OMG, Dr. Hebert at LVRC just called with an update:

LVRC is going to post some pix of Tawny on their FB page this a.m., they said she looks & acts like a different cat! http://www.facebook.com/LAVRC?sk=wall

She up and walking around with her tail in the air, talking (she is very vocal~Desi) and EATING -- EATING on her own!

They pulled the ng tube b/c, as Dr. Hebert (Abear) put it, "it's kind of uncomfortable and we don't want that to keep her from eating on her own."

& altho they are not yet ruling a feeding tube out, are hopeful there may be no need for one, but she has to continue to eat on her own today.

And if she does good today, they want to start her back on her Lantus tonight! At 1.0u, which is what she had been getting.

I get the impression that they are totally on board with the idea of how we do what we do here, and when I told Dr. Hebert about Tinkerbell this morning and how she went OTJ after 28 months on Lantus following (as best we could) what I learned here, Dr. Hebert's response was, "That's awesome!"

Plus I get to visit Tawny in the morning at 9:00 a.m.!

They are still waiting on her liver cytology (sp?-is that even right?-I have no medical bkgrd) to come back today, but Tawny's improvement is great!

Keep the healing vines, prayers and snowflakes coming!

Tawny & I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Desi

(PS somebody please let me know if I need to pull the 911 icon...wasn't sure whether to leave it on there or not.)

Oh WOW! This sure brightened up my day! I'm so happy for you Desi and of course for Tawny. Keep eating sweet girl!

Good news, Desi,
I don't know anything about Tawny's health issues, but the fact that she is eating on her own is great. People who are familiar Tawny's conditions will be along soon, I hope.
We are continuing to send healing vines and prayers that Tawny will make a complete recovery. It sounds like she will need to be monitored carefully.

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

The liver cytology (yes, you spelled it correctly) will let you know if hepatic lipidosis was/is present. Even if it is, as long as Tawny is eating, that's one of the best medicines there is.

I believe Jill (or someone) posted about providing some supplements for liver support. I believe she mentioned Denamarin. You might want to ask the vet about this.

And Whoooooo Hoooooo for Tawny!! What wonderful news. I'm assuming her electrolytes are stabilizing, as well?

Re: 11/9 Tawny is getting her 1.0 Lantus Dose Tonite!

Tawny will be getting her regular dose of 1.0u of Lantus tonight since she did so well today!

Dr. Hebert reported about 1/2 hr ago that Tawny "nibbled all day" and will be getting her regular 1.0u dose of Lantus this evening!

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!

They will be monitoring her overnight of course.

Thank you LLEF for your support, contributory & otherwise, and DCIN for yours, and FDMB for yours, and LVRC for their stellar care of and caring for Tawny, I believe she has truly touched the hearts of everyone there, too! As usual, Desi, Tinkerbell, Tawny, et al are once again eternally grateful for the support and caring of everyone.

I get to visit her in the morning!

YAY!

Desi
