Mary, this is such an insightful observation. I agree, just like you with Jude's FIC, I would not have realized how much general pain Noogs was in without the BG clueing me in. I did notice his pain when it got really bad of course - but I think that he has been living with low-level pain/discomfort for some time. I'm so glad I did my little experiment to continue with the painkiller past the acute phase of his flare up. How much his numbers have normalized over the last week or so has really surprised me. And he seems so much happier.You know, it's kind of interesting--since we have diabetic cats and since their bg is influenced by pain, we are privy to being flagged for that pain when, otherwise, we might not even know our very stoic cats are suffering. I know this is the case with Jude's FIC because he's often not symptomatic, and the only way I know something is off is because his bg shoots up. Do you think you would have known about Noogi's arthritis pain if you didn't see it in his bg numbers?
