Drove to NJ shore yesterday. Progress occurring, but just lots of devastation. We visited a few of our shore hang-out places. One devastated and the other was on higher ground but no electricity. But in true NJ fashion, they were open with a free buffet all day because the stuff in the freezers was thawing. So they just served it all for free rather than let it go bad. $2 beers, windows overlooking the marina and Manasquan River (near Point Pleasant) and candles on the bar and tables. And the ladies room :-)

Leo is better, but oddly twitchy at home. He loves looking out his back door but is skittish. I jammed 20% down his throat to leave yesterday afternoon and gave Chicken Feast to stop the end of a bounce so I could get some sleep. I think the pharmacy is open today so I will head over in a bit for Leo's syringes. I've used the two I have now 4 times each. He didn't seem to flinch any more than normally.

Happy Sunday in LL.

OH!!!!! Don't forget your meters probably need to be adjusted for daylight savings time too!!!

Re: 11/4 Leo 442

Hi Lisa, Hope Leo slides down easy for for you, no dive Leo. Hope he can relax and fell less twtichy. Glad you can get your syringes today.
Glad to hear there is some progress at the shore amidst all the devastation. Its great that they put out a feast to use up the remaiining food. I remember many happy party days at the shore in my impetuous youth, hard to believe its so wrecked now.
Good reminder on the meter time! Enjoy your Sunday.

Re: 11/4 Leo 442

Candles in the ladies room :)

I wish I could figure out how to change the time on my meter. It has been off by 10 minutes forever, now it's off my more. I have tried everything  Thanks for the reminder though.

It looks like Leo had some of J.D.'s cake last night. Hope he comes down nice and easy, today.

Re: 11/4 Leo 442

Hi Dyana - yes, Leo had his fill of cake! Thanks for hosting the party! He's so full he's not even eating his breakfast!

What meter do you have? I have the Relion Confirm and it's a little tricky but I could walk you through it.

Re: 11/4 Leo 442

Morning Lisa, I see so much about NJ on the news and the devastation and NY, too. That was so nice of the restaurant to make something good out of it with the food and all. Leo senses something has happened. I'm sure his numbers will come down later. Thanks on the meter setting with the change in time. I still have to change my alarm clocks. :? Have a wonderful day.

Hey leo, wasn't that a great birthday party at J.D.'s. I'm sending my Bean to the store for some real food for me today. We have Rusty's porch later, See ya soon, Mags

Re: 11/4 Leo 442

Good Morning Lisa
Thanks for the meter reminder. I need to drag out my booklets.

That was good of the restaurant to give the food away, rather than wait and toss it all.
Poor Leo, doesn't know what's going on.

Re: 11/4 Leo 442 +3 188

+3 188. Hmmm. Well, the little fart didn't eat any food until +3, so I'm not surprised. I put him in his room with the food. He's being a bad boy with Molly and he needs a time-out.

Hi Barb - I put directions for changing the time on ReLion Confirms as a separate post. Do you have that one? Yes, the restaurant was great - it's a local haunt right on the water, mostly a long bar area overlooking the water, and tables in the middle. Bands, theme days, etc. It was good to stop in and see activity. The APOLOGIZED for serving drinks in plastic cups. Sheesh.

Hi Ann - yes, the restaurant was also offering free coffee and tea for anyone who just wanted to stop by. It's too bad that we are amazed by this type of generosity, because it makes it more obvious how little people go out of their way for anyone anymore

Mags - come an get me! The bean locked me in my room. I was just stalking Molly a little bit. She's no fun. She just sits there in the sun. Sneak me out the back window! ~Leo

Re: 11/4 Leo 442 +3 188

That's a big drop! I'd definitely get a +4 in case Leo is full of surprises today.

I grew up in the Philadelphia area and we would vacation in Atlantic City. Seeing the wreckage of the boardwalk broke my heart!

Re: 11/4 Leo 442 +3 188

Leo - DUDE! You gots a time out??? no fair man, I is sure you did nothing to warrant such bean behavior... I could talks to her if you wants... or better yet... Mags and I swill sneak you out - open the window... just a little... ~~ Mannie

Morning Lisa ~O) ~O) ~O)

love the candlelight ion the ladies room... Amongst all the devastation it is heart warmning to read stories such as that one. Still open for business, caring for their community. It sounds like a great place, hope they will be able to recover soon.

And LEO - DUDE! Eat your fuds, 'k?

Enjoy your day Lisa - I hope it is a good one.

Re: 11/4 Leo 442 +3 188

Leo...really? Missing a little food and dropping like a tank?

I'm glad you made it safely to NJ. The compassion of people in tough times never ceases to amaze me.

Re: 11/4 Leo 442 +3 188 +6.5 106

+6.5 106.

I meant to get a +4 but lost track of time. Finally a day to just relax a little and get a chance to start learning my new computer - I got a MacBook Pro ... first new computer in 7 years!!! Amazing - I made a video of pictures from yesterday ... in 10 minutes!!! Then I realized oh crap, I didn't set an alarm for Leo! (I have to set alarms now - I lose track of time so easily.)

HI Marje - Yes, Leo is still bothered by the storm and the trip. Poor boy. Everyone says, Jersey Strong. But you're right, most people have inherent goodness in them.

Hi Michelle - everyone says we will rebuild. I can see some of these places open in the spring. Others, just gone.

Mannie - saves me!!! Grabs Mags and I bring my nanner and runs! ~Leo

Hi Sienne - I'm sorry you've lost that too. Yeah, the boardwalk is just gone. And the amusement pier - it's terrible. I'm sure you've probably seen the picture of the roller coaster in the water. This is an extended play of a chopper ride up the coast. AC and Seaside are near the end. No boardwalk, pier trashed. http://www.news12.com/articleDetail.jsp?articleId=339179&position=1&news_type=news

Re: 11/4 Leo 442 +3 188 +6.5 106

Nice cycle for Leo today. I hope he is starting to settle down. I hope you were able to get some syringes today.

Re: 11/4 Leo 442 +3 188 +6.5 106

Leo, messing with Molly and getting yourself a time out...ooo you little stinker. Hopefully you ate! Let's stable out those numbers now.

Lisa, you are right. Crisis can bring out the best and the worst in people. My prayer is that you will see more of the best and none of the 'worst.'

Have a great night (and Leo, be nice! )
Karen

Re: 11/4 Leo 442 +3 188 +6.5 106 +9.5 134 PMPS 123

PMPS 123 - beautiful number but that generally means not so much sleep for me. He is just TOO BOUNCY.

Hi Carla - He didn't eat much at all today, but at PMPS he cleaned his plate. So I don't know what that holds for me! Yes, I was able to get syringe today - the pharmacy went online yesterday but I missed their closing time! So we got the balance of the box owed us this afternoon. So he got a nice shiny SHARP syringe tonight!

HI Karen - he was actually a better boy after his time-out. Maybe he understood! (No, I think not!)

Re: 11/4 Leo 442 +3 188 +6.5 106 +9.5 134 PMPS 123

Wow...that was a big drop today, but Leo leveled it off SO nicely. Surf safely tonight, Leo, so MamaBean can rest!

I doubt we'll make it to the shore before summer...all I've seen so far are pictures. It's just shocking to see it all...the damage is bad enough inland where we are, but what happened along the coast is heart stopping. And, of course being without power for days, we were totally cut off from seeing all of it for so long...it all seems like a bad dream.

Another nice technicolor day for Leo! I can so sympathize on the bouncy cat thing. I'm curious where he'll go tonight.

Good on getting the new syringes. I'm glad things like that are available, eve if gas is hard to get.
