Yesterday
Last night was much the same as the night before. Every time he moved I woke up to see what he was doing. He did get sedated again at the vet yesterday, so he was restless, as is to be expected. Hopefully today he'll be calmer. He's had his breffis, tramadol and doxycycline, and then he retreated to his "hide-from-the-vet-trip cupboard" which is next to the one I cleaned out and set up for him. I can't wait for him to realize he doesn't have to go anywhere today. It's the first time in 12 days he gets to stay home. He's dealing with the cone better than I expected. But his ears seem to be bothering him. They are itchy, and he can't scratch them, so he just keeps shaking his head a lot. I try to scratch them for him, but all thru the night I heard him trying to scratch and shaking his head. When he comes out of hiding, I'll try to wipe them with a damp cotton ball and see if that helps, and I just called the vet to make a note to check them tomorrow when he goes in. But all in all, he's definitely looking better. The abscess doesn't look to have drained at all over night. Once he gets his drain taken out, I'll try a tshirt so he can take off that silly cone of shame.
