He isn't doing well at all. Gave pain meds @ +11.5. He is currently sitting meatoafed, head down and his body is rocking.Go with your gut. Could easily be a FS so I say better to be safe. He’s been dropping low at nadir so if he’s refusing to eat I would skip.![]()
Yes. Seriously thinking the emergency hospital. They are closer and better equipped since my vet is in an older facility (still displaced).Oh no. Think vet visit is in order? Sending vines to you both.
Before their offices were destroyed my vets was also an emergency hosp. Not 24 hours but extended hours. I have no idea if the facility where she is now is equipped for this but my impression is-it is not.ER vets are better equipped for sure

I think she said in a previous thread, she tried it and he didn't care for it much.Lizzie, try some baby food ( all meat ) that always works like a charm when Bubba is off his feed.

Getting ready. Taking food, meds, meter, strips. Should I take insulin and syringes? Anything else?

for you.

Great that he had the energy to be p#$@! off! You might want to re-evaluate whether he can be at home tonight ? Poor guy, all he needs is an infection. Danged good thing you took him in. With everything else going on with our kitties, it's extremely hard to realize that there's an infection brewing.I am back. He stayed. He is getting intravenous fluids (but was only slightly dehydrated). Temp was 104+. Blood-work, abdominal ultrasound, injection pain and nausea meds are being done. Should have BW and ultrasound results later today. Urinalysis and urine culture will be taken when they can get urine and be sent out and should have those results tomorrow.
They wanted to keep him, I said no. He could have IV fluids while he waits for US (etc) but that he needed to come home tonight.
I bet it is a kidney infection (or possible UTI) but I don't know. He was in full Gizmo form. Hissing, spitting and generally terrorizing the staff. I got to go say goodbye to him before I left and it seemed to calm him down a bit and he made eye contact.

BW shows slightly elevated WBC and US shows slight fatty liver, kidney disease and pancreatitis. They want to keep him but I said no. Will pick him up in about two hours. I will have better luck getting him to eat at home. He will NOT eat there. BTDT. I don't have much more details but they did give him injection nausea meds and pain meds. They will give a Mirtz when I go to pick him up. Oh, and they have started antibiotic and gotten the urine sample to send out.
I need to get a refill on the Mirtz and to get some high calorie high, protein food, low carb food - I am thinking Tiki Cat but open to suggestions. I also need to know what you think I should dose tonight. He WILL be high from the vet stress.
I am headed out to the pharmacy and the Petco (and specialty pet store if necessary). I can view from my phone but may not be able to post (have only done a few times).

I have the in-house labs. My scanner isn't working so I am trying to get that going. Once I have that I will scan and tag you if that is ok.Also piling on the prayers and vines for Gizmo. He has the best nurse possible.
Have you tested at all later today? If he's high, don't worry about the feeding schedule. In that case you don't care if it's food influenced. I used to assist feed a little, then shoot, then assist feed more. I found it much easier to do in small installments. How important is it to stick to his feeding schedule? It looks like I will have to force feed and I haven't had to do this since he has had diabetes. Do I force feed then shoot? When do I test for PS #?
Yes, I skipped this morning. You did skip this morning
It is going to be a nightmare.how easy it will be to assist feed
I am going to start with the mixture I have pre-made. It is:what carb foods you are dealing with
