Here we go ... I gave him a mix of the Hill's m/d wet food he's been on, and the Fancy Feast pate (chicken today) that I want to transition him to. And his scoop of (also Hill's m/d) dry food, which we'll keep for now. And then a 0.25U shot.

Fingers crossed for a reasonable drop, and not a plunge, but I'm ready if I need to step in again.

I'll give it a couple of hours, then run out to the pharmacy for the various supplies I still need (like ketone testing strips).

Well, this is certainly slower than last time, but I guess the biggest question is, will it turn around when it should? Or will it just keep going down and down again? I'm on the edge of my seat. Come on, buddy.

So many tiny ups and downs.

It was interesting ... I came home from the pharmacy and glanced at the app, which was showing 253, the lowest point so far today. During the next half hour when I was puttering around, I noticed him having a little dry food snack. (He's a grazer, and while I'm thinking of discrete meal and snack times, I don't want to make too many changes all at once. Plus I'll need an automatic feeder if we do change to that, because I work on-site four days a week.)

When I went to record his +8, it had gone up to 301 (it dropped to 295 as I was getting the spreadsheet open, and I went with that; can't find the 301 on the graph now). And then it started dropping again towards where it had been. I know his dry food is particularly high-carb, so I guess it makes sense, but it was something to see it in action.

I'm so nervous about giving him his next shot, given yesterday morning's dive and the fact that he's still mostly trending downwards. I mean, we're just getting started and it seems like a good thing if he doesn't go all the way back up to the >400 zone, I think?

(I canceled my Thanksgiving plans because of all this, so I will no doubt be here and rambling quite a bit off and on. Whee?)

I'm finding the graphs really helpful, being rather visually-oriented. I wish I had some samples of what a "good" cycle looks like in this format, but I know the FDMB generally prefers the spreadsheets. (I've done a little searching but not found much, and it's certainly not a big deal.)

Sorry you cancelled your Thanksgiving plans. Any chance you could revive them tomorrow morning if his numbers indicate it's OK? I suspect he is bouncing, which would mean another few cycles of higher numbers.

If it helps -- here's an example of our good-not-great cycle today. The little ups and downs are super normal, as are the numbers correcting themselves as they get "saved" to the permanent chart (about 20 min after the actual time). Sometimes we see his graph absolutely plummet but within ten min or so it levels off. It's when he's low for more than a few minutes that we start to think about double-checking with a manual test. Not official advice, just how we handle it.

For context, he gets his shots at 9a/9p and eats his AM cycle snacks around 10:30, 12, and 3.

That big dip and subsequent error/gap in the graph is when he was laying on it (a "pressure low") and then got up and ran around.

I canceled them more than a week ago - I knew I wouldn't want to leave him, even though I hadn't anticipated that getting him back on insulin would be quite this chaotic. My family mostly lives on the other side of the state from me (maybe 160km or so?), and I don't drive, so attending family Thanksgiving involves overnights and coach buses. It wasn't to be this year, and I'm okay with it. Thank you, though. ❤️

That is helpful, thank you! Just getting a bit of other peoples' (and cats') experience has been hugely helpful, and this is especially great because it's so relevant to what I'm trying to do/understand right now.

Well, in spite of my nerves today has gone okay, it seems. All things considered.

I'll probably stay up a bit past my usual in order to monitor him, and might set some kind of alarm to wake up sometime in the night and check. (Would really prefer not to be blindsided again in the morning!) And on we go. I continue to appreciate the support and kindness of this community very much!

Sorry about your plans, hopefully you can figure out a way for December!

I love the graphs too! But sadly don’t use a Libre much. I’ll have to remember tomorrow to send you a link to this website made by a member, that turns all the spreadsheet data into a graph… it’s amazing!! *making a mental note* - it’s on my computer, otherwise I’d send now.
