Good morning Dyana......Good start to J.D.'s day....so close to blue...maybe a nice green as well in the future.

Re: 11/24 J.D. AMPS 205

Good morning guys! Such a low yellow this morning you are bound to hit some blues and greens later on .. have a great day and a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!

Re: 11/24 J.D. AMPS 205, +1 244, PMPS 340, +2.5 368

J.D. might have had a good day today, but I don't know that.

What concerns me tonight, is his head seems to be tilted a little to the side. I hope he's okay.
He has eaten both his dinners (and I think he also ate Ginger's too, because she didn't like the fare tonight) and lot of cat treats and seems to be acting fine (normal). I'll have to Google it, so I can be totally scared..

I am thinking of adding some fat to his dose this weekend, since I have a 3 day weekend YAY! We'll see. I have tomorrow off and then work on Friday. The last 34 he got was on S1.25, so maybe a F1.00 will be good..or better.

Gosh, Dyana, I hope that head tilt isn't anything to worry about. Not sure what it could be....maybe his neck is just a little sore or a little arthur-itis.
Hope you have a good day off tomorrow! Enjoy your turkey bird!!

Re: 11/24 J.D. Advise Please

Should I take J.D. to the ER?
He seems to walk a little uncoordinated, but not in circles, just a little off. He ate fine, and his eyes look fine, although diatlated (it's dark in my house and they both look the same). What should I do? Wait it out?
He seemed normal, I didn't notice anything different earlier. I saw him fighting with Ginger a little while ago. I wonder if he did someting then.

I just tested him by bringing some frozen slices of steak out of the freezer and teezed him with it, and followed me into the kitchen when he heard the baggie, and he jumped up to get it just fine.
Now that I'm back at my computer he have trotted to follow me and has now jumped o']

I guess he's okay.

Re: 11/24 J.D. Advise Please

Oh Dyana, I don't know what to tell you, I've never had that kind of thing happen....did you look in his ear on the side that he is tilting down? Sometimes when they have an itch or something like that, they tilt their head...KWIM? I hope it's nothing serious!

Re: 11/24 J.D. Advise Please

His head and neck seem pretty mobile once I have a piece of steak in my hand. I guess I'll just wait it out. Right now looking up at me(hoping for more steak), his head is straight. But, when he goes to lay down in his bed his head is tilted to the side and when he is walking to me from his bed, his head is tilted. Maybe I hurt his ear somehow?

Re: 11/24 J.D. Advise Please

Nice typing, JD! I don't know what to tell you, Dyana. You said he seems to be acting normal. Can you manipulate his neck? Does it seem to bother him if you do? I'm going to post this on FB to see if anyone there may have any input for you.

Re: 11/24 J.D. Advise Please

Thanks Deb. That's very nice of you.

Oh, J.D. tilts his head just like this a lot after I test his ear. I think it's the way I hold his ear, and one of my fingers probably tickles his ear somewhere. But, it always goes back to being straight within a minute or less. He just looks so sad when he's in his bed with his head crooked. I guess I could try to wash it or rub it or something
I'll try to get a flashlight and look down in his ear if he'll let me. I just did. Both ears look the same inside.

Re: 11/24 J.D. Advise Please

Hi, Dyana & J.D. nailbite_smile
First of all.. good news that J.D. is appearing normal.. all besides the head tilt anyway.
I dont know what to say this could be.. if you can swing it.. maybe you should take him in to put your mind at ease? I know when Baby or Sadi have an issue I google to death & have myself convinced they are too, I also ask for advice & that feels good - but nothing feels better than an expert's educated diagnosis, in person advice. I usually can scrape up funds somehow. What do you think? I think listen to your mummy instinct - I am sure he is fine, but it would be good to know what is going on.
Good Luck.. you both are in my prayers

Re: 11/24 J.D. Advise Please

Hi Dyana-

I wish I could help, but I don't have any idea what that could be. You'll have to trust your gut...taking him in might give you some piece of mind. What about calling the emergency vet and trying to talk with someone? Maybe they could tell you whether it sounds like he needs to be seen right away, or if it can wait...

Sending thoughts and hopes that you figure it out soon. Cheers!

Re: 11/24 J.D. Going to Vet

Willow does the head tilt when his ears are bothering him. And not to scare you, but he also did this after he had an idiopathic seizure. As Nicole said, trust your gut. While you may find out he's perfectly fine... if he seems off, it's better to be safe rather than sorry.

Just saw that you're heading to the vet. I hope he's okay. We'll be waiting for an update.

Re: 11/24 J.D. Going to Vet

Dyana, I hope everything is okay with J.D. Glad you're getting him checked out. Positive vibes are coming your way!

Dyana...sending healing vines and hoping all is ok with JD. Please keep us posted.

Great job you did with Aseel today....I know that had to be a little tough but you all did super together.

Big comforting HUGS from Us!!

J.D. is better, I think. I almost didn't go after I posted I would, because he was acting so normal. But, one thing that was so normal was that he didn't cry a whole lot on the way to the vet. Maybe he was just tired. The vet didn't think his head tilt was very pronounced. She said that he sometimes tilts a little and then goes straight again, and if it was more serious the head would tilt all the time.
I think I just have a subconscious need to go to the vet lately. I took him to his regular vet last Saturday because he had hiccupps or something like that for a few minutes on the Thursday before. And now, this ER vet said "do you see his head tilting now?" like it wasn't so bad.
Anyway, he was 329 before we left at +5.5 and 309 when we got home at +7. I fed him and he is now so busy taking a thorough bath that I can't even see his head to tell if it's straight or not.
The vet gave me some Clavamox to give him for 2 weeks. I hate antibiotics. It's because I pointed out a tooth that I thought might be bothering him..one that his regular vet said he would pull, "yet". I asked if the antibiotics would help if he had an ear infection and she said they would.
So that's that.
Does anyone know if I give FortiFlora 1 hour, or 2 hours, after the Clavamox? I hate antibiotics. I know I already said that.

Off to bed for us.

Ni~Ni LLand. Thank you for all your well wishes :YMHUG: hope it turns out to be nothing tomorrow morning and his head is all straight again.

Dyana

No idea on the clavamox and fortiflora but I'm still glad you took him....you never know and it's not worth it. At least now you have peace of mind.
Hope you get some rest. Happy Thanksgiving Eve!!

Hi Dyana, a head tilt can often be an inner ear infection, so the antibiotics may help here. I had that happen with Spot. Message Cindy and Mousie who also had this with one of her cats. Hope this gives you something to go on! The ABs took about 2 days to clear up Spot's infection enough that his head went back to normal.

Good to hear you got AB's for J.D. just in case somethings going on with his inner ear (((((((((Dyana&J.D.)))))))))))

I'm glad that you took JD in to the vet, if only for peace of mind. I'm also glad that nothing out of the ordinary was found. Hopefully it is just the ear or the tooth that is giving him problems and the AB's will knock that out of him.
I give Spot the probiotics a half hour before he took the meds. That seemed to work.

Hope you and JD, and of course Miss Ginger got some sleep. I'm curious to see JD's numbers in the morning.

I did not know that fortiflora could cause any problems with other things or meds.
Shadoe likes it so much that if I dont' sprinkle some on every meal, I get the "What? No sprinkles?" look.
