Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate! Please remember in your prayers today some extra wishes for those who need them, most especially dear Dale, Brad and Moonie. No-stress travel vines to everyone getting the highways, especially those traveling with Kitties.

WBR:
I have MANY things to give thanks for this year. My friends here, both two-legged and four-legged are in my heart. FDMB has been a god-send to us and to Leo. Leo has been on insulin now for nearly 4 months. We figure he would have been dead twice over by now. We adopted him on January 1st this year after he'd gotten into a fight outside and had a badly-infected tail. Our hearts broke, we brought him in and never let him back out. He had a clean bill of health at the time. In the next few months, he lost weight and showed classic diabetes symptoms. Off to the vet were he was diagnosed with raging diabetes, had lost 3 pounds (down to 8), and tested positive for FIV. And some sort of allergy or irritable bowel syndrome. By now, the tail infection and diabetes would have killed him. We fallen so in love with him, he is such a sweet boy, the though of "putting him down" was unthinkable. To most people, he's seriously damaged goods. Unadoptable. To us, he's our new feline lover boy. I am so thankful he's come into our lives to give us joy and fun, and to buoy our spirits as we struggle through this commuter marriage.

I give thanks to my wonderful children and grandchildren, the second born in September. We are all close (well, not really physically) and gatherings are happy times. I am thankful my parents are still alive and doing well on the left coast, and that my brother, SIL and niece are all doing well in their lives.

i am thankful I have a job that I enjoy, and a company that works directly to improve public health (FDA). I see the work I do directly affect people's lives through safer medical devices.

I am thankful that we survived Sandy with minimal damage, and have in my hearts all our friends and families who lost homes at the NJ shore, those with house damage, and those with sadness and shock of childhood memories, vacation spots and iconic places that are utterly ripped from the ground. The devastation continues, and I will continue to donate. I have more clothing I don't wear, and am planning a big clean-out for the next donation.

I'm sure I'm forgetting things, but I will remember throughout the day.

WCR: Leo knows "something's up." He did wonderfully the last day or so with his numbers, but the final packing with DH and our flurry in the kitchen last night making several dishes turned the apartment up on end. (It was funny - as we finished each dish, the bowls, pans and utensils for each got cleaned, dried, and directly put into packing boxes! So odd!) I heard LB action in the night, but I tried to get Cerenia in him early this morning and I couldn't get it down. He frothed like mad and it ended up an orange Cerenia foam. He has not preened that mess off his neck yet. His BGs went black - partial bounce but also I think lots of stress. (At least I can shoot and travel today without worry that he won't eat until maybe +3) So, also no plays yet. He is at my feet. I might get a little purr during his AMPS testing.

Today is THE DAY. Travel to DS/DDIL in about an hour. Stay over for until tomorrow morning. Trip back to my soon-to-be-old apartment. Completely move out (Leo will be freaked at all that activity with nowhere to hid). Drive to my new place (about 40 minutes). Unpack (in a strange place with nowhere to hid). Then stress of a new place and mamabean unpacking. I'll have to drive back to my old place to clean it for final inspection.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate, and Happy Thursday to everyone else.

It sounds like you have a life that Leo enriched. I hope you let him read his condo from today - maybe it will help to relieve some of his stress.

You might want to think about putting Leo in the bathroom while there's commotion going on. Especially with the new apartment, you don't want to risk Leo strolling out the front door. As for hiding places, my sister thought the same thing during one of her moves. Her cat found a way to get behind the dishwasher and another time, clawed a hole in the boxspring and hid there. Never put it beyond a cat to raise your blood pressure.

Morning Lisa ~O) ~O) ~O)
Auntie Lisa!!! OPENS!! I know you needs me today, so I brought LOTS for you, and your DH. They is mega good, I brought three kinds! Tell Leo I will picks him up later for some kitty fun!~~ Mannie, kitteh barista

What a wonderful WBR. And the Leo story! Wow, has he ever been though alot. It is so wonderful that he was able to adopt you. Leo, you take good care of your beans... they needs you.

I wish you much luck with the next few days. It sounds mega busy, and I hope all goes well. Bummer on the cerenia. It has been ages sine I have had to give that stuff. I remember reading somewhere about a bean that crushed whatever the med was in water, then administered it via syringe. Down the hatch. I wonder if that would work for Leo. ?? Maybe Sienne's idea about the bathroom might be good. ?? Leo could have all his things there, maybe it would calm him some? Maybe play some music? And yes, when they need a hiding place they are so good at finding one. ;-) Good luck with everything today.

Leo - it's me, Mannie. Hey man, I will comes and picks you up. No need to deal with them crazy beans... she is mega busy and we n go and have some funs! You wanna help me wit the turkey? See ya! ~ Mannie

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Good Morning, Lisa & Leo, and Happy Thanksgiving,

You certainly have much to be thankful for: Leo is OK and you saved his life. I do hope that in all the hurly burly of today and the move tomorrow you and Leo will be able to find a quiet place to relax together for a few minutes. Sienne's idea to put Leo in the bathroom with his bed, lb, and toys is a good one. There are many, many stories about cats who got outside and became lost during the chaos of a move. When we lived in Brooklyn we found a kitty and because he was wearing a tag were able to track down his beans, who had been looking for him in their neighborhood for several days. Our neighborhood was over a mile from theirs. So it pays to take steps!

Lots of hugs from us,

Ella & Rusty

It sounds like Leo is super lucky to have found you. I hope all the travel and moving the next couple of days doesn't stress him and you out too much. I think putting Leo in the bathroom in the new apartment is a good idea. That way you won't have to worry about where he is and maybe it will help keep him calmer. I hope you have a good Thanksgiving with your family.
