Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate! Please remember in your prayers today some extra wishes for those who need them, most especially dear Dale, Brad and Moonie. No-stress travel vines to everyone getting the highways, especially those traveling with Kitties.
WBR:
I have MANY things to give thanks for this year. My friends here, both two-legged and four-legged are in my heart. FDMB has been a god-send to us and to Leo. Leo has been on insulin now for nearly 4 months. We figure he would have been dead twice over by now. We adopted him on January 1st this year after he'd gotten into a fight outside and had a badly-infected tail. Our hearts broke, we brought him in and never let him back out. He had a clean bill of health at the time. In the next few months, he lost weight and showed classic diabetes symptoms. Off to the vet were he was diagnosed with raging diabetes, had lost 3 pounds (down to 8), and tested positive for FIV. And some sort of allergy or irritable bowel syndrome. By now, the tail infection and diabetes would have killed him. We fallen so in love with him, he is such a sweet boy, the though of "putting him down" was unthinkable. To most people, he's seriously damaged goods. Unadoptable. To us, he's our new feline lover boy. I am so thankful he's come into our lives to give us joy and fun, and to buoy our spirits as we struggle through this commuter marriage.
I give thanks to my wonderful children and grandchildren, the second born in September. We are all close (well, not really physically) and gatherings are happy times. I am thankful my parents are still alive and doing well on the left coast, and that my brother, SIL and niece are all doing well in their lives.
i am thankful I have a job that I enjoy, and a company that works directly to improve public health (FDA). I see the work I do directly affect people's lives through safer medical devices.
I am thankful that we survived Sandy with minimal damage, and have in my hearts all our friends and families who lost homes at the NJ shore, those with house damage, and those with sadness and shock of childhood memories, vacation spots and iconic places that are utterly ripped from the ground. The devastation continues, and I will continue to donate. I have more clothing I don't wear, and am planning a big clean-out for the next donation.
I'm sure I'm forgetting things, but I will remember throughout the day.

WCR: Leo knows "something's up." He did wonderfully the last day or so with his numbers, but the final packing with DH and our flurry in the kitchen last night making several dishes turned the apartment up on end. (It was funny - as we finished each dish, the bowls, pans and utensils for each got cleaned, dried, and directly put into packing boxes! So odd!) I heard LB action in the night, but I tried to get Cerenia in him early this morning and I couldn't get it down. He frothed like mad and it ended up an orange Cerenia foam. He has not preened that mess off his neck yet. His BGs went black - partial bounce but also I think lots of stress. (At least I can shoot and travel today without worry that he won't eat until maybe +3) So, also no plays yet. He is at my feet. I might get a little purr during his AMPS testing.
Today is THE DAY. Travel to DS/DDIL in about an hour. Stay over for until tomorrow morning. Trip back to my soon-to-be-old apartment. Completely move out (Leo will be freaked at all that activity with nowhere to hid). Drive to my new place (about 40 minutes). Unpack (in a strange place with nowhere to hid). Then stress of a new place and mamabean unpacking. I'll have to drive back to my old place to clean it for final inspection.
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate, and Happy Thursday to everyone else.
