It is my bean's fav! SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of peppermint and vanilla and chocolate and caramel swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, sprinkled with peppermint chips and a chocolate caramel drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good!
I hope everyone had a great week. ;-) The days with the boys have been good ones! We have been very busy, that part of life has not changed. Will it ever? ;-) NOPE!!
What a BUSY week! The other grandparents are on vacation, until 12/2, so I have the boys five days a week.
And thought I was busy before, with just three days.   lasy week was teh busiest ones of their absence. With the holiday this week it shouldn't be as hectic. well, in theory anyways. We have been swimming, and hiking, to the park and the beach and the playground and on the river. Been busy indoors too, with the aquarium and the science center. We have had lunches at rivers edge, car camping some too, and indoors on benches. Funny how the boys love those impromptu eat wherever lunches. Life is good!
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Friday Night
were our swimming days this week. That's alot of pool time! William went Tuesday and Thursday, Nicholas went Wednesday, Friday, and again on Friday nght. At the risk of being repetitive, what I wrote last week still is true this week:
Nicholas still looks forward to our after swim Friday Night Burger Feast
I know I write this each week, but that is just so fun: burgers and fries, just him and me, with lots of fun stories. He was so happy to see that burger and fries combo show up, just like always. Somehow I think that is part of the magic of Friday night swims: that he gets burgers etc after his swim. He still makes a point of making sure I have packed it all. He also thinks it would be a good idea if I packed a jar of pickles, as it seems there are never enough on his burger.
Last night he only got 4 pickles on that burger (the record is 12  )which definitely was not enough! I so need to buy that jar! Yesterday we again talked about our week, trips to the beaches and parks, the rivers, and the day spent at the aquarium and the science center. The drive home continues to be an enjoyable time for him. He continues to be into volcanoes, tsunamis, and now earthquakes, so these days so we talk alot about them. They had a special on the TV the other night on the Oso mudslide here in Washington State, so we also talked alot about what he learned. GREAT TIME!
and..... no hiking for me this week! Bummer! But the time with the boys was a great offset, and we did make it out alot, so I remain content. The weatehr has turned rainy at any rate, with lots of snow now in the mountains. at times the passes have been closed, so.... I guess the hiking season is more or less "over". Oh well, time to focus on lowland stuff. We do have several very nice ones that fit that category.
Monday was sunny, but much colder out there. Thank you Alaska for that cold front you sent our way. not. We were in the 20's tonight, 38/42 during the day. At least the sun was out (they promised!), and NO WHITE STUFF.
 ;-) Monday was our free day, one without school or pool. so.... since it was barely in the 30's, and way too cold for the boys to be on the river, we elected to go to the Seattle Aquarium, ALWAYS a favorite of the boys. Nicholas asked to go the the Seattle Aquarium, so off we we went. YAY! It had been a while since we had been there, well about 3 weeks. They sure did have a great time. William is so much more mobile, so it was nice to be able to set him down and let him roam. The joy of discovery on his face was just so awesome! The section that was the biggest hit was the tide pools, where they have so many anemones, starfish, etc. They allow hands (well, your "science finger") in there, so William got to experience his second rounds with the anemones. Loved that, as did he: all smiles. It is interesting that Nicholas also enjoys the interactive screens that they have it here. We visit them all, with me reading what they say, him doing what needs to be done to get it all to work. Great leaning tool! William is a HUGE fan of the tropical fish tanks.
He just LOVES them, and can't get enough of any of the tanks. He gets so excited as these fish swim by his face, with him following them with his fingers, all the while saying "FISHIE!!!!!"We also spent alot of time in the "Under the Dome" section of the aquarium, which basically allows viewing from all sides and the top. It is a very cool area. Nicholas perched himself on a railing and watched the fish do their thing. William was busy "chasing" them aback and forth.
What a great day!!!
By Monday afternoon the temps had warmed alot, enough that we were able to visit Juanita Beach. The weather was warmer by then, the afternoon was turning into a sunny afternoon, like 55 (!!), so off we went! We did all of what he goes there for. Lots of play, and it was warm enough that both boys could play at the beach, but too cold for any swimming. Both had such fun with that. William continues to love the very small waves, and had a blast. SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH!   WHAT FUN! WHAT A MESS he was after that.   They both were! After one splash series they both decided that the water really was COLD, so they both stuck to the sand. William has really developed a fondness for it all, he just gets so excited when he sees the parks, the beaches, the rivers, He is so very much like his brother when he was that age. He just loved it. Nicholas did a very good job too making sure little bro was doing OK. We brought food for the ducks, what a hoot that was. Nicholas fed them, William spent time walking amongst them, trying to catch one. One of them noticed he has some bread in his hand, and was brave enough to snatch it from him. Poor William didn't know what to make of that. :? We also had a small picnic after our beach and park time. All around - really a terrific day. I bet both those boys slept well that night. AWESOME time at the beach.
Tuesday Afternoon, after William's swim, and Nicholas's school we were off to the Skykomish River at Big Eddy. And YAY (!!!!) the weather was our friend! We had some sun, mid 50's temps, and the rivers were calling us.
It was truly and awesome day to be outdoors, and back to one of or fave places: the Skykomish River, near Gold Bar.We did very well, and the boys had such a good time. We stayed maybe 1.5 hours hours, before heading on out to meet up with their dad and mom so they could go home. Neither of them wanted to leave that river. There are sections were runoff made these tiny "creeks' in the sand, before joining the river. There was nothing I could do to keep them both out of that creek water. They walked in it, build damns in it, splashed and played in it. Still no fish yet in the Skykomish, kinda disappointing, but well... we will try again in a few. River was very high, fast, just beautiful. William was just as excited to see it as Nicholas was. We walked the banks, tossed a ton of rocks, waded in some, explored a few mini waterfalls, and enjoyed being out in the wilderness. I am amazed at how well both boys love the time spent there. Nicholas tells me as we are headed on out that it was "The best day". One has to love that. What a truly great morning, great time!
Wednesday Afternoon, after Nicholas's swim, some time spent with their Grammie Connie, my DMIL, who watched William for me while Nicholas was in the pool, and some gaming time early on, we were off to a local neighborhood play park, Meadowdale Park, so the boys could climb and swing and slide and just have some outdoor fun, before the weather started to turn. The rains were due shortly, but we managed to dodge an onslaught of the wet.
I so had to laugh when both boys wnated to do different tings, and laughed even harder when Nicholas headed off to the right, William headed off to the left, and there I stood in the middle.... hmmmmm, which one to follow. William so goes with the flow that I gathered him up and we headed over to Nicholas's chosen venue. It was a great afternoon outdoors, and so glad that the weather gave us that chance.
Wednesday night also found me at my youngest son's band gig, at the studio, show venue that they workout off, Studio 7 in Seattle. The was lovingly booked a Seattle's "metal Fest" with about 8 bands on the venue. I was grateful that they, Fallen Angels, played late enough that I could still take care of teh biys, get them home to mom and dad's and have enough time to make the show. It ended up being a very longggggggggggggg day for me, not home until after 10PM.  Worth the effort though as Matt plays a mean lead guitar. I had a blast! Sorry the photos are so dark.... these places aren't exactly known for their adequate lighting!
Thursday Afternoon, after William's swim, and Nicholas's school we were off to the Science Center. Once again the weather was not our friend, what rains! and winds! and little sun! so........ Nicholas's solution was the Pacific Science Center. SWEET! and an excellent choice. This seems to be rapidly becoming a fave place for Nicholas, we've been every week for over a month now. Science center was alot of fun, both boys got into just about everything, Even William wants to participate. That was fun to see. I think we spent 2 hours there, what time we had, did all we could in such a short time span. Nicholas has gotten very good at knowing the afternoon visits are short ones, and he has to choose what he wants to see. Nicholas likes the place, is getting much better at understanding some of the science behind what he interacts with. William just likes pushing all the buttons turning all those knobs. ;-) It's a great place, lots to do, lots for them to learn. It is unfortunate that some of the exhibit areas need work in that the stuff simply does not work anymore. other than that, still good. Neither boy wanted to leave....It is nice though to see them accept and know that these afternoon trips are short ones, and that they have to be selective in what they see. Both boys did well with that aspect.
I love Science Center days.
Friday was pretty much a swim day, with Nicholas swimming in the morning, and then again at night. Grammie Connie watched William for us so Nichols could swim. it has been great to be able to spend some time with her. We never really did get any sort of a weather break, bummer! So that brief afternoon time we had here at the house was spent indoors, with books, puzzles and gaming. That too was a fun time.
Normalcy in MusketeerVille!
The kitties are all doing well. Not too much new with them... Fall move into winter mode is here, they are bunkering down, but still yearning for the great outdoors when the sun is out. Elsa still ventures out, and when out she doesn't stay long. Bug could care less, Lola is ALWAYS grounded, and always wants OUT. Lola has been trying to be good, and for the most part I'm not yelling "LOLA!" after whatever it is she did.   I can hardly wait for Christmas and all we went through with her last year. I can still see that tree swaying....   last week she has decided lately to nap on my lap, usually in the early morning hours when I am on the 'puter. cool! That has continued this week, sometime in the afternoon too. It is amazing how serene and calm and content she looks when she is sleeping.... Of course this was only after she has these marathon run through the house for close to 30 minutes. Elsa whacks her for even thinking she wants to join. Bug of course did, runs right along with her, stopping now and then to play with a toy instead. GO KITTIES!! Nicholas continues to talk about Mannie. A few times this past week he mentioned, out of the blue, that he misses Mannie. We told many a Mannie story that day, and many others. It still amazes me how much he really remembers. I can say do you remember the time when... and he will complete the memory. That started last week too, continued into this week. As crazy as it may sound, as William is just starting to really communicate, I could have sworn I heard him say Mannie. It was as clear as a bell, happened several times that morning. Thanks for coming to visit us Mannie! We all miss ya big guy! cat_pet_icon
Have a great Caturday everyone. Sorry this post it late today. Sorry too I missed everyone's condos yesterday too. Time this morning, and the days, have gotten away from me. At least the shopping is done, and the laundry.
This afternoon is a Medicare afternoon, as a gentleman is coming to go over the basics, help us decide what we need, what we don't so we can successfully get DH enrolled, and lay the ground work for when it is my turn. I hope that there will be some out and about time after that, as so far the rains have remained elusive. YAY!

were our swimming days this week. That's alot of pool time! William went Tuesday and Thursday, Nicholas went Wednesday, Friday, and again on Friday nght. At the risk of being repetitive, what I wrote last week still is true this week:
I continue teach him what I can. He continues to make lots of new friends when he goes. it's fun to see him connect up with kids when he gets there. Last night while at the Snohomish pool he asked if he could swim the lazy river unassisted. I normally have a firm grip on the back of his swim suit, ans that river has quite the clip to it, ad is far from "lazy" so he did, unassisted, an handled all the river threw at him very well. I will admit though that I was always within arms reach, just in case. We all just love pool days, and are grateful that we have the pools and the time to be able to do this. GO NICK! GO WILLIAM!They both are truly water babies. William has taken to it all so well. He never cries when there, always asks for more of whatever he is playing on. He doesn't seem to mind when the water spray features are on. He loves the slides, and wants to climb up the stairs on his own. So we do, slide down together.  I am continuing to introduce him to being underwater, for short periods at a time. He doesn't seem to mind them, I've even had a few smiles. He's adjusted to back floating, and "swimming" on his front. I have no doubt that he will like this as much as Nicholas does. In fact he never wants to leave when it is time to go. We have a new chant: MORE! :lol:Nicholas continues to be very supportive of William's efforts in the pool. He still asks how he did when he can't swim with him, tells me what I should be training him on, asks if he did certain things. It is cool when he says" "He's doing great Grammie!" Yes, that he is. Nicholas continues to be our energizer fishie. That I think will never change. he just has so much fun with it all. He continues to LOVE the new pool we started going to a few months ago, in Snohomish. It really is a wonderful experience, and he can do alot of the things he likes there: like the slides, the lazy river, and deep water jumping and diving. That has become our new Friday pool. It is a ways away so it does add to our commuting time, but we all agree that it is very much worth the effort and time spent. We are still trying to "convince" Nicholas that swim lessons would be great... oh sure! Last night he tells me that he is "never taking that swim test!" Hmmmmm.... silly kid!

Nicholas still looks forward to our after swim Friday Night Burger Feast
