All is well in CurryLand.

Next week I had scheduled the bathtub to be redone....NOT......Made an executive decision this morning to cancel it until the spring. I just don't want to have to go through the same craziness as when I moved. I would have to move out for an evening and of course move the kitties who HATE change. It would impact at least 3 of Curry's shot times and it take the two kitties some time to get grounded again.....We are just now getting our groove back since the move at the end of September.

I feel a ton better this morning having made that decision.....So all is well in TenaLand too.

Have a great Friday everyone.

Aww, you are sweet to put your kitties ahead of renovations until things are more settled.

We had lots of construction going on when my kitty was getting sick and I didn't catch it right away because he was hiding all day every day for months. He'd come out to eat quickly at 4:30 every day when he heard the trucks leaving. I started to bring food and water to his hiding place so he wouldn't go so long without eating - especially since he seemed to eat a LOT more than normal. Not long after that I realized something was very wrong when I petted him and felt his bumpy boney spine. His long fur hid the drastic weight loss and I was horrified.
Long story short... dx with FD, found this awesome board... intense treatment...healthy kitty, happy bean!

Re: 11/12 how many carbs in wellness core???

Does anyone know the carb count of wellness core? Chick-Turkey and Ch. Liver can and the Salmon Whitefish and Herring can.

I didn't find it on Janet and Binky's food chart. Just looking for foods that are 3% or less right for Curry.

Re: 11/12 how many carbs in wellness core???

Beautiful Preshot for Curry this morning. I know about putting things on hold for the cats, my whole family thinks I'm nuts.

If you go to the Wellness page http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/recipes.aspx?pet=cat&ft=2, click on the food and then the Guaranteed Analysis tab. Below the GA numbers they post the As Fed numbers which you can then use to calculate carb% from Janet's excel calculator.

Re: 11/12 how many carbs in wellness core???

Tena

I just got ALL the nutrient profiles for Wellness canned/pouched foods from the company and it includes as fed and dry matter info. I plugged the numbers into Janet's calculator and the Core Turkey, chicken, liver formula is 8% calories from carbs. The fish is 13.8% calories from carbs. BTW, on their website, in the "as served" values, they don't include the moisture and it does vary...it's not the same from food to food. But these numbers are directly off their nutrient profiles and using Janet's calc so they should be accurate.

Re: 11/12 how many carbs in wellness core???

Ann and Majorie.....Thanks so much. I didn't realize how high the carb content was for both of these.

Re: 11/12 how many carbs in wellness core???

By my calculations, which could be wrong, all of the Merrick BG varieties have 3g of carbs or less. I posted all of the as fed values on the Main Board.

Re: 11/12 how many carbs in wellness core???

I am reposting it here for you:

Using the spreadsheet from Janet and Binky, this is what I came up with:

Beef
Protein~41
Fat~58
Carbs~1
Fiber~.36
Phosph~163
Calories per 3.2 oz can~89

Chicken
Protein~31
Fat~67
Carbs~2
Fiber~.35
Phosph~157
Calories per 3.2 oz can~89

Turkey
Protein~31
Fat~67
Carbs~2
Fiber~.01
Phosph~177
Calories per 3.2 oz can~85

Quail and Chicken
Protein~33
Fat~66
Carbs~1.5
Fiber~.01
Phosph~505
Calories per 3.2 oz can~79

Salmon
Protein~29
Fat~69
Carbs~2
Fiber~.01
Phosph~577
Calories per 3.2 oz can~80

Tuna
Protein~37
Fat~61
Carbs~2
Fiber~.01
Phosph~449
Calories per 3.2 oz can~82

If these calculations are right, then the Beef, Chicken and Turkey varieties are great for kitties with CKD as well because they are so low in phosphorous!

I feed mine: Wellness chicken, chicken and beef, turkey; Nature's Variety Raw chicken, Evo 95% Vension and Merrick BG chicken, beef and turkey. These are all very low carb and low phosphorous as well.

Re: 11/12 how many carbs in wellness core???

Thanks for the hugs, Tena...always helps.

Those are the same numbers I got for the Merrick BG as well and I use them except the fish altho Gracie isn't too crazy about the turkey
