Yesterday
12 degrees F. here this morning with very high winds and about 3 inches of snow. The unseasonably warm autumn has lulled us and today was quite a shock. I decided not to climb Blue Mountain tomorrow. It's supposed to go down to 3 degrees tonight. I need a little time to "winterize".
Rusty had a pretty good day and ate much better than the last few days. As long as we are around to encourage him by holding his bowl, he manages to get the food down. Rusty has never been food-motivated and nowadays he is even less so. He spent a lot of the day on or near the radiator.
My Instant Pot cookbooks arrived and the recipes look good. They also have a lot of tips on cooking with the Instant Pot. The risotto I made yesterday was OK, but needs work! The new books both have several risotto recipes.
Wishing all a good weekend. Tomorrow we observe Armistice Day (now called Veterans' Day in the US). My father and two uncles were World War I vets. My mother was working in Manhattan when the Armistice was announced and told of thousands of people pouring out of office buildings into the streets. The newspaper pictures of that day in NYC are amazing.
