11/07 Comet AMGC @128 - OTJ Question

We have been in Diabetic remission since December of last year. The last month after zero changes Comet started reading higher numbers. He used to be consistently 80’s and I got a few 100’s. Well today we got his highest read all year, 128! idk what to do. Or what is causing this. I will be calling his vet today. Any word of advice? He has IBD and Chronic Kidney Disease stage 3, he has been on Renal Support Pate for this entire year. When we had him on LC renal friendly food his CKD numbers were bad!

Your are doing the right thing. A vet checkup and blood work is the first step. Get the vet to look in his mouth too. Dental issues are one of the top reasons for higher numbers. Though I see you did have a dental done in July.

Do you know what carbs are for the Renal Support Pate? Also how long the Renal Essential treats and what are the carbs? Any recent changes in food/treats? I notice you have some new probiotic treats, which ones are they and what are the carbs?

Is the metronidazole long term? It's not a great med long term. Which probiotic are you using? I like Visbiome for IBD.

Hi! He has bloodwork coming up in a month. I’m going to schedule the appointment tomorrow when I call. I will have them check over his teeth as well.
The only change has been I have not been giving him his Feline Renal Essential Kidney support treats daily like he has been getting since when I started in January & they helped his numbers a ton! https://www.vetriscience.com/renal-essentials-feline.html I’m going to start those up again and see if things improve. No idea about the carb count in his food off hand. And the new treats I gave him 1 or two yesterday and today. They were the Limited Ingredient probiotic topper chicken treats from Instinct brand, so not much or often. https://instinctpetfood.com/products/raw-boost-mixers-digestive-health-freeze-dried-cat-food-topper/ He is on Metronidazole long term for his IBD as well as Budesonide and a Probiotic. We tried to eliminate the Metronidazole and he got so sick, so I wasn’t wanting to toy with it. He has so many issues already. He is on the Renew Life Extra care probiotic once daily.
