Happy Friday - never made it in here yesterday and I'm being punished for it with this 125. Been trying to get caught up as my schedule allows.

Actually, I can't figure this 125 out except where I read that a late shot is like a decrease and I was late with Shadow's insulin last night - would that be enough to do this? The last time she had blues, I was shooting late in an effort to move her schedule to accomodate that dinner party thing last weekend. Got some blues then. Hit me upside the head with a brick, why don'tcha?
"lantus likes consistency".

The other factor in this, a new food. couldn't find it on Binky's list. Friskie's Classic Pate Turkey and Giblets. There is another Friskie's Classic on that list that clocks in at 7%. I've been trying to increase the boy civvies' calorie intake, they are just so skinny on this low carb diet. It's been a challenge since this started to get them enough to eat without resorting to dry food and all 4 of them have gone thru kitty crack rehab so we aren't even considering dry food. I've asked about this over on health, Larry gave me this, http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/Img ... 062148.jpg, so at least I know what to watch for. But i've been looking for some higher carb food for Romeo and Pablo. I left the Friskie's down overnight, maybe that's it.

Anyway, Shadow is wearing Spot's purry pants, they are a bit snug on her and she can't get 'em zipped but she's happy and napping in the sun. 3/5 P's. Maybe it's because it is getting colder, less humid but that dandruff is making a reappearance. SHadow doesn't know it yet but there is some tuna in oil in her future for the weekend. She will really enjoy that.

weekend research: Cosequin. Lately when brushing shadow, she has protested about me brushing her coat near her hips and I'm able to feel some fullness, R > L hip. She's quite elderly, so it is likely a little "arthur." We are in Texas, that's what a lot of our patients call it, a touch of the "arthuritis."

Have a good day, my friends. catch y'all on the flip side.

Healthy cats are really a lot thinner than we are used to seeing. I wouldn't raise the carb content, the kcal per gram are the same for carbs and protein (about 3.5 kcal/gram,) while fat is higher about 8.5 kcal/gram. If you increase the carb % you will in effect be decreasing the protein or fat %, J&B's chart shows % of ME (metabolized energy), how much of the kcal in the can come from each of the 3 energy sources. If you are sure they need to gain weight, I'd feed them more. I'm sure they won't object!

Have you read Dr. Lisa'a article on nutrition? Even though you might have the opposite concern there is a lot of good info in the article on Obesity and the Cat Nutrition article is a must read. http://catinfo.org/

BTW: Right now I'd be doing backflips for a 125 preshot!

I second Ann's wish but for different reasons

Aren't we all learning so much about nutrition now for our kitties..civvies and sugarbabies alike. And I hear you on the "arthuritis". My husband said I still
don't know how to correctly pronounce "ruin". He makes it two syllables...I like the "roont" version   And he's from KY for gosh sakes!!!!

caught her in the act - enjoying some forbidden food. I'm considering this a failed experiment. I can't feed the boys different food, I can't keep up with it and I turn around there's Shadow back in the friskies. Still and all, not a bad number, so it must be in the 6-8% range.

Wild night in here tonight - all these kitties with the dropping numbers. What is up with this? Reckon Esmeralda is going to be one of those that goes off the juice real fast? Wouldn't that be cool? When I first started lurking, there was one in Health - Taline and Biba - I think they were here about 2 weeks. I love it when it works like that and it gives all of us a much-needed boost.

Tena's success with the feeder is going to spur me on to renew my efforts with Shadow. It could make life so much easier if Shadow could learn it.

haven't been here much in two days so there is a lot to catch up on. off to read condos.

These numbers are still pretty good despite some higher carb food. You might want to consider giving the food a few days to settle in. Some cats will have slightly higher numbers with a food change and then things go back to normal.
