11/01 Phoebe PMPS 180/ +2.5 135

Did your vet do a thorough check of her ears?
Does Phoebe look like this? (watch the first minute or so)

No - It's more like a broken swivel chair that always moves to one side. So she will look at us for a minute and then her head just swings away to the left. Her eyes are also moving around a lot. She was listing to right walking down the hallway earlier, but stopped doing that once she went to the bathroom.

459 at +1. If the vet doesn't tell us to bring her in (which I suspect they will, i'll test her at +3, I want to give the insulin a chance to kick in).

And she's sleeping right now, so I don't want to disrupt her so soon :(

She's been a trouper, but I'm not sure this is sustainable long term...(i.e. testing so frequently, staying up all night to monitor her)

With that +1 I suspect she’s bouncing which will give you a break from testing. I promise you you won’t need to test this much or stay up all night. :bighug: No need to test for a few hours and then likely won’t need another test until PMPS.

She's 363 at +4, that could be because we had to get her in her carrier to take her to the vet, but then couldn't go because the ER vet slots filled up. Still watching her and may take her later.

She's 11 - In pretty much every way except her gait and the balance, she's acting normally. Wants to sleep a lot, but I think that's related to the new medication and mommy and daddy chasing her around with sharp things...using litter box normally, eating wet food when we coax her (which is her way and has been for years), wants to be around her people and her brothers, unless she's sleeping.

I have noticed that she's got a lot of mucusy discharge out of one eye, so I THINK she may have an eye infection. I have no idea if that can impact balance. We will be taking her in either later tonight or in the morning - real world issues have conspired against us for getting her in today during the day.

I just saw you posted the labs from 10/21 so no ketones. That’s good.

EDIT: they told us she had trace ketones last Sunday, which they were concerned enough about that we hospitalized her overnight, but they haven't sent the labs from that day (despite my asking). That said we got a test from her at home today which was negative. We were considering DKA as a possible issue, but that eliminated it as an option.

Also - she had lost about 5 lbs since our last vet visit in late 2018, but we've been weighing her at home this week and she's put on about a pound in a week (unless our scale is faulty, which it may be).

308 at +7. I am leaving for a few hours this evening, but Mike is keeping an eye on her. I think our plan is to test PMPS, shoot with .5, keep feeding her the LC and see where she goes. Probably not so many tests tonight (one a +2, mid-cycle (if either of us is up), and +10). If something goes seriously a-rye, we will call on help - but I think for now, we are signing off until tomorrow.

Thank you Bhooma, Elise, Sienne, Red, and Susanne (and anyone I missed) for holding our hands through this process. We really appreciate it! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I hope you have an easy night. Let us know if you talk to your vet. With DKA off the table I think like I originally did she was hypo on the 1.0 but I don’t know what’s going on as far as the other symptoms. :bighug:

Just to update - she's 180 at PMPS - I gave her .5. I'll probably take stay up to take test her at +2 and see where she is. Then I'm going to need to make a feeding plan for the next couple hours because we are both shot and I don't think we are going to be able to manage a middle of the night test and feed...

Depending on what her results are, can and/or should I be leaving out the HC dry just so she can eat something?

If the +2 is less than the PMPS or even close to it definitely leave out hc. Looking at last night i think I would do that no matter what. I’ll try and check back to advise you.

135 at 2.5+ Mixing up some wet HC food for her and leaving out the kibble. Mike is up for the next little while, so I asked him to test right before he comes to bed and if she drops more, to wake me up. She likes to keep us on our toes.
