Good evening,

today was a day with horribly high numbers. She didn't see anything below 400. :( I wrote an e-mail to my vet, if there is anything we should do. It is day 11 on Chloramphenicol. My vet sent me an article before we started that some vets recommend to take it max. 14 day, some even say max. 10 days because it can become toxic for cats. I wonder how I find out if Binie still can take three more days. So I am scared to continue but also scared to stop, as we don't have another treatment option.

Thank god Binie was eating her dinner tonight before the shot. She is not happy but not totally unwell. She cleans herself and most of the time she lies in a more or less relaxed position.

Last night was short. At +6 I woke up by the alarm and she was a74 on the libre. I already knew that the libre is not working well this time and she will be much higher but I took a prick to be sure. She was 236. So far off, clearly not working.

As I was anwake anyway and as she was lying in a good position, I decided to change the sensor immediately. My problem is, that I can not force Binie to stay still. I just have to wait until I see her in a good position and hope she holds still. Last time it was not working and she got up after I applied the skin tac and I had to clean her and to start all over again. This time I was lucky and she just waited till I was finished. So far the sensor seems to work. Thank god. I really don't need more stress in all this.

Hope everyone has a relaxed and peaceful day and all kittys are fine! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Update: The vet already replied my e-mail. She thinks the high bg can be due to the antibiotics. Regarding the toxicity she copied me some literature that didn't give much new information. I think I just have to accept the fact, that the treatment has risks. I think so far Binie manages quite o.k.

Hi Heike, I’m glad you heard back from your vet about your questions on the antibiotic. Let’s hope that Binie will be OK being on this antibiotic. I know it does come with risks and that’s very scary.
Let’s hope and pray that when she’s done these antibiotics the infection will be gone. And then her BG will come down.

You’re doing such a great job. I know you’re under a lot of stress, but you’re doing great every day, one day at a time, that’s all you can do and you’re doing it.

I’m glad you were able to get the new sensor on. It does sound like the old one was really acting wonky. Great job getting that switched out. I know it can be very stressful and causing anxiety. Will they act out? Will they respond or will they just lie there and behave? We just never know. I’m glad Binie was a good girl and let you replace the sensor with no problems. Hopefully that is one more thing that will be working and one less thing you have to be as stressed about.

I hope you both can rest tonight and recuperate and tomorrow is an even better day. Ivy and I are sending you lots of love and lots of hugs ❤️:bighug:❤️:bighug:

Thank you so, so much Staci for you kind support! ❤️ It helps so much, to be not alone in this. I hope you have a relaxed evening with Ivy and a calm night! :bighug::kiss::bighug:

Hi Heike. I'm sorry to learn that Binie is sick. I've been away for a while and haven't managed to catch up with you guys.
I hope you find a decision you're comfortable with re-AB. It hard when you can't get a clear or definite answer. I'd say do what feels right to you but I know it's easier said than done-

I'm happy Binie cut you a slack this time and let you put the new sensor. Very kind of her :)

I hope you both can find clarity and that you can rest. Big hug :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Shelly,
thank you so much checking on us! Binie is still fighting with her multi resistant germ in her urinal tract. This is the last antibiotic which could help, so we don't really have a choice. It's not approved in Germany any more but in Switzerland. One and half day more to go. So let's hope it kills the nasty germ and doesn't do too much harm.

Hope you and your boys are fine. I will check on you later! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

If you ever need something from Switzerland, don't hesitate to ask!

That's the way it is: if it's medication you can get in Switzerland easy, if it's natural (especially probiotics) you must get it from Germany :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Paws crossed for Binie:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you so much Shelly! We got it from an international pharmacy. If you need something form Germany, just tell me! I know Germans like all these alternative medicines and the market is broad. Hope you have a relaxed weekend! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
