Hi everybody. I just got back from taking my grand daughter to day care and visiting Tori at the vets. So before I Hit my bed for a few hours sleep before I start the process over again I thought I'd better update you.

Well your prayers and healing vines for Tori have certainly been working. She looks so much better. She was so excited when I got there. She was trying to give me head butts through the kennel bars and was looking for a tummy rub. THey still aren't sure what's going on with her. They haven't got the Pancreatitis test back yet. Her WBC is good so that means the chemo hasn't knocked it out. She's not anemic. Her electrolytes are all so she's receiving Potassium in her IV for now. Her sugar of course was high and the lab was asking if this is a very uncontrolled diabetic. The vet laughed when she said that and said she said actually is normally very well controlled.

So the plan is to keep her on the IV til her electrolytes are better and wait for the rest of the blood work. SHe is still receiving the Buprenex and is on a broad spectrum antibiotic as well. She hasn't vomited for them but isn't eating either so they syringed fed her and want me to bring in some food for her so I'll bring some of the Merrick and Fancy Feast that she normally likes and some really stinky fishies as well.

So that's it for now. It looks like Tori won't be able to go and visit with Bear today unless the kitties stage a jail break tonight after the Vetty Beans go home. She wants Bear to know how much she loves him and that she wants him to feel better so much.

So I'm off to bed. Thanks so much again for the LL magic that has been sent our way. There's a blizzard in our neighbourhood even though Edmonton is sunny and warm today. Love you all.

((( Barb ))) Hope you can get some well-deserved rest. I'm sorry they don't know what IS going on, but it sounds like she's getting good care and I'm so relieved to hear that she's feeling better.

Great news that she's at least feeling better. Very cute on the headbutts and the tummy rubs when you went to visit. Hope they can get this figured out.

(Raja is a real stick-in-the mud!)
But she wants Tori to be GOOD as NEW and she said that there will be lots of other parties for Tori to come to. Right now, she has to focus on getting better an she is in the best place to do that!. She will give Bear Man extra kisses from Tori and will send regards from her to the Bear. We are all sending hugs to our dear Tori! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I'm glad that Tori is feeling better. Those headbutts are very sweet. :-D I hope the vets can figure out what's going on soon and that Tori continues to improve. Sending healing vines and prayers to Tori and I hope you can get some rest too.

Re: 10/7 Tori - Update _She's feeling a lot better

We're so happy Tori is better today flip_cat flip_cat flip_cat Do you think she would eat for you? When our Gus had pancreatitis, they could not get
him to eat but I was up there often and I was always able to...they would just put us in a quiet room and he'd eat. We were just feeding small amounts
frequently because the pancreas needs a bit of a rest with pancreatitis. More healing vines!!!!

barb, praying that tori is all better and you have her home soon.
did you leave something with your smell there to comfort her? i think they appreciate it. i usually leave a t-shirt i've worn and don't mind losing in case they toss it accidentally.

Gee, this is just so unfair though...sigh...sweet Tori....fight it girl! You can do it...

I hate that Tori has pancreatitis, but I'm glad you have a diagnosis and a direction to move. I'm even more glad that she seemed to feel better today!

Lucy is singing at the top of her lungs, she thinks Tori will be able to hear her all the way in Edmonton.

Sorry I'm late with tonight's update. Ayanna and I both dozed off on the sofa when we got home. Well it's confirmed Tori does have an acute pancreatitic attack. Her test came back in the high range. (I forgot to ask for the exact number but will do so tomorrow). The repeat bloodwork they did this morning came back much improved. CBC is normal as are her liver and renal values. This is huge meaning that the Chemo which has shrunk her nodes down to normal hasn't done any harm elsewhere. Doug feels that either Tori was going to have a flare anyway which she does from time to time or that decreasing the Pred by going every other day triggered the attack. Her electrolytes which were all low are back in normal range.

When I got there to visit this afternoon Tori was lying down resting. When she heard my voice she jumped up and tried to climb into my arms, It was hard to keep her in the kennel and she was so excited she kept getting tangled up in her IV tubing. She was very vocal and let me know that she was displeased to be there and that she wanted to go home NOW! She looked so much better even from this afternoon. Her eyes were so full of life again. SHE"S BACK! She still won't eat for them though so they are continuing to syringe feed her. I brought a kitty buffet with me so hopefully she will enjoy that.

Doug was very pleased with her progress. He said that she was really pi--ed off with him this afternoon and was telling him off. I said good. He laughed and said"I love it when she does that. That's how I always can tell she'll be OK." The plan is to keep her on the IV overnight and if she continues to do OK to send her home tomorrow late in the day and see if she will eat at home if she doesn't eat for them on her own. That's the part that always makes me really nervous. Tori will let me do almost anything with her except syringe feed her. She'll continue with the Bupe and we'll try giving her Pred as 2mg daily instead of 5mg q2days. That should help get more consistency with her sugars too. We didn't discuss when we'll do her next chemo but I'll ask about that tomorrow.

Tori was very disappointed that she couldn't go with the other kitties to visit Bear Man tonight. She wanted to break out and sneak out for a couple of hours IV and all. I told her that he would not be pleased and would want her to stay right where she was and get better. She relented when I told her that.

So that's the update. Tonight is my last night and then I have the Thanksgiving weekend off so I'll have 3 day to be home with my baby.

Thanks again so much for all the prayers and healing vines. You folks are the best . Keep them coming. OK? Love you all.

So sorry that Tori has pancreatitis, but very glad that the other lab results are encouraging. I hope she will feel even better tomorrow and will eat for you without the struggle of syringe feeding.

Sending some healing vibes to you!

Hi Barb, I am so happy to read that Tori is doing so much better tonight. It will be wonderful if she can come home tomorrow afternoon. Lots more healing vines and snowflakes are heading your way. Thanksgiving weekend will indeed be a joyful time when Tori comes home. I'm sorry that she couldn't be with Bear Man and all the kitties tonight, but I know that she felt all the love and was able to experience the gathering even though she is in the hospital.
Have a good night tonight and get some much needed rest.
Many hugs,
Ella (and Stu)
