Nice to see a 77 this morning.

That said, Sister threw up 3 times Sunday and lost her appy. Then diarrhea a few times.
Gave a dose of Cerenia but she still vomited in the afternoon.

Yesterday, Monday, appy returned and poop was firmer but messy. No vomiting.

Today, vomited up her PM +9 snack about 7:00 a.m.
Ate again right away so is not nauseous.

I am debating if I should cancel tomorrow's dental.
Opinions?
Thanks,

I would definitely postpone the dental. Anesthesia is hard on them and if any teeth need to be pulled she might not want to eat. What do you think is the cause?

I am not sure what the cause is but have a couple of ideas.
There have been no new food introductions. The diarrhea Sunday MAY have been from the Cerenia dose I gave her.
She does get this mucus-sounding rumble in her throat sometimes and she will cough that out. Then it is gone until next time. Coughs up clear stuff with no food in it.
When she was treated for URI/ear infection in early June, the vet listened to her lungs and said they were clear. (She had that rumble then and I suggested x-rays.)
But she got rid of that rumble by coughing it up, I think.
It may be herpes virus. She and her brother have often had runny noses about twice a month. Clear stuff. Sometimes with sneezing.
Their systems fight it off and it resolves quickly.
I have also suspected it is the red gums on the upper right side (the reason I want the dental).
I think that could cause the recurring mucus situation, not sure.
I am really bummed. Want to get the dental behind her in case that ongoing inflammation is the cause of occasional vomiting.
Thanks

I don’t know what to say. Maybe talk to your vet? I would want her feeling good before a dental but you know her best. :bighug:

Good idea.
Vet not in till tomorrow afternoon, but the med staff suggested I bring Sister in tomorrow afternoon for a re-evaluation by the subvet that would have done the dental (Sister's vet quit).
I would like to meet this vet anyway so this works fine for me.
No dental rescheduled at this time.
Thanks

Hello Ann! Sorry Sister hasn't been eating well and not tip top! I think you are wise to postpone, at least for a little while, meet the vet... get her check out a little bit, etc. They already did the pre-anesthesia blood work, right (I'm trying to remember .... sooo many kitties on this board.)

Yes, she had the BW, urinalysis and physical exam over a week ago now, with the original vet.
She vomited again about an hour ago and it had mucus. I think she needs an antibiotic.
Thanks,
