It's been two weeks since Walter's dental. He is done with his ABs and pain meds and is feeling well. The only thing that is not looking so great is his numbers. He started with higher numbers three days before the dental (=when I put him on ABs) and is only coming down very slowly. I gave him a dosecrease on Sunday and he will get another one on Friday if I don't see any green by then. I know I won't be home enough to monitor today or tomorrow.
Mandarin remains in blues and greens, but there are quite a few higher blues and some very strange cycles. I don't think I have much room to mess with his dose, so he is just staying on 0.25 U for right now.... unless someone thinks that I should change it.
The rest of zoo is doing pretty well - with the exception of Iris. Her breathing has gotten even worse and she still has discharge running from her right ear. It's not really an ear infection, but it seems to be draining from her sinuses. My vet has talked to some people at Purdue and at a specialty clinic in Fort Wayne and I think I will be taking her to Purdue for a consult. I know I have to do something, but the thought of putting her under just terrifies me.
Magnolia (my foster pup) is doing great. She has already gotten a lot better and her skin looks great! I am doubtful that she ever had mange. She will attend her first adoption event tonight. She really is a GREAT puppy and my other dogs adore her... even Bear, my grumpy old Chow Chow. He actually started playing with her and it just warms my heart to see him pick up a toy and wrestle like a puppy.
Moon and Boots, my two foster kittens, finally got adopted last weekend. I am very happy that they got to stay together and that they were adopted by someone I know (a former student of mine).
Meanwhile, my semester has been extra busy and I would love to just have a day to catch up on my sleep... but it doesn't look like that will be happening anytime soon.
