Good evening,

another day quite flat in pink and yellow. Today is day 7 of 1.5 IU. I think it is time for an increase tomorrow?
@Wendy&Neko @tiffmaxee

The only thing that worries me about an increase is, that appetite is getting more and more an issue. Tonight she was not eating well before the shot, just some nibbling. I have to motivate her a lot and she gets more snacks and treats as she normally would.

She is also rather sleepy. Today she did not wanted to go out at all, which is unusual. I checked ketones this morning and with 0.2 mmol/dl they are fortunately in her usual range. But some more insulin should be helpful to keep it that way.

Hope everyone has a nice day! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, I hope you have good luck with the increase of you do it tomorrow.
I hope Binie eats well so there’s no problems. How is she feeling with the antibiotics? How much longer do you need to give them to her?

I think she loved you giving her lots of love and attention at meal time.
Glad her ketones are fine, too.
I hope you both have a calm night and a restful sleep.
Ivy and I send you both hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci,

thank you so much for wishing us well! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Today I think she felt a litte crappy. :( Could be from the Chloramphenicol. I expected that, after all I read about it. I should give it to her 14 days. The vet sent me an article about it, it says 14 days is the maximum which is recommended because it can become toxic for cats. Some even recommend only 10 days. It can cause blood dyscrasia which means, the body is not able anymore to produce the different elements of the blood. Today is day six.

My vet told me that it was a common antibiotic for animals in Germany twenty years ago. Today it is not approved anymore, as there are less dangerous alternatives. But seems we don't have alternatives anymore for Binie. I hope tomorrow is better. Maybe she had just a bad day.

I hope you can rest after your flu shot and Ivy let's you sleep tonight. I send you a big hug! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I see decreased appetite is listed as a side effect of Chloramphenicol. As is lethargy. It is used off label in cats in Canada.

As far as increase goes, I would. She did see a 98 on the day the new Libre got applied, and I've read they can be off the first day. Since then it's been nothing below 200. If you want to wait another cycle to see if she'll clear any bounce, that would be OK too. Other than that rogue 98, this dose hasn't been wonderful.

Thank you Wendy, I will increase tomorrow if she is not unusually low in the morning - but it doesn't look like that. Thank you also for the link for the Chloramphenicol. I found similar information before and that is why I am a quite worried. Hope you have a nice day! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
