Crushy is looking and acting normal this morning and no ketones in his urine. Appetite is good and he's drinking again (I also mixed a lot of water in his food since yesterday)
Saw my regular vet this morning. He gave Crushy a pretty thorough physical exam and some Subcutaneous fluids. He even gave me a bag of the electrolyte solution and showed me how to do it myself at home. If he ever has an episode where he wont eat or drink for long periods of time ill probably use it. Im also going get a serum ketone monitor....I figure one more tool in my arsenal cant hurt.
So no ER visit just yet. My vet seemed to think that ER treatment for Ketones when they are just in the serum was not really warranted. Im still going to keep a close eye on him and test his urine regularly though.
So at this point we are thinking Crushy just ate something weird yesterday that upset his stomach. A random bug, grass....Ive seen him eat unidentifiable things off the floor before so there is no telling. One time he even ate a BG test strip (he thought it was a treat...thats when I learned I have to give his ear poke treats AFTER the ear poke....WELL after the ear poke) He's kind of an eat now ask questions later kind of cat.
If he continues to have episodes like yesterday's I plan on exploring the possible pancreatitis issue but Im kind of thinking this might have been an isolated incidence. I hope anyway...
