It's a quiet Caturday morning here. The cats were nice and gentle, but firm, about waking us up for breakfast. ;-) FF Salmon's on the menu. Clare's all 5s and all is well.
We have a gathering of friends tonight, a potluck, and I'm making "dessert shots" for the first time. My own creation: prickly pear syrup with elderberry liquor and a splash of orange juice and extract; coffee/chicory ice cream; chocolate brickle crumbles; orange curd; whipped cream; and crushed cocoa almonds sprinkled on top. Small but intense. My DH, who's actually the best cook in the family and my best critic, declared it "A Winner!" Now I just have to figure out how to make them at least partly ahead, for 17.
I bet we have some great cooks on the Board, so if anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful. I'm new at creative cookery, but trainable!
