Hi everyone,
Just got home from work. Boris has been under Joe's watch today and will be all day tomorrow again. Tonight starts the 6th cycle of his 0.25units. The first cycle showed mainly yellows, then followed by mixed blues and yellows and now the 5th cycle we have quickly regained double digits for most of the cycle. Already I am nervous. Funny - before the seizure I always liked those green numbers. Now I'm scared altho 76 has been his lowest. Somewhere around +5 to +6 seems to be his nadir. For tonite that will be about 3am. One of us will be getting up to check on him for sure. Joe will give Boris alittle something to eat around 12mn. It might make him higher but I just can't bear the thought of him going too low again.
He went for his checkup on Friday afternoon. I guess you could say it was good news/disappointing news. Maybe I'm just looking for too much.
Good news - new vet is VERY receptive to all the info from FDMB - I printed out all the info from Lantus land here - said if he has more diabetic patients he's calling me - loved the acromegaly calendar from our hi dose group - and loved the spreadsheet idea that is used here!
Disappointing news - Boris' liver function tests remain elevated despite being on Ursodial, Denemarin, Prednisolone every other day, Vit B12 injections every week. This vet actually felt we should back off on the prednisolone. I'm sooo confused. I became a member of the feline liver support group on yahoo when our Simba was so sick with cholangiohepatitis so I've written there for more help. We will go to every 3rd day on the pred. This too will probably further affect Boris' sugars. All the more reason I worry about his sugars. If any of you have any thoughts on this I am sooooo open to listening!!! The only other thought I have is to also visit a homeopathic vet to see about some chinese herbs. One of the girls on the liver group talked about that.
The other news we received that day is that despite Tang being on Prednisolone for his autoimmune attack on his bone marrow - his white count has not improved at all. It remains at an incredibly low 1.3 Then again - at least it hasn't dropped any further. sigh........The internal med vet is out of town till Tuesday so we'll hear what the next step is then.
In general tho - both Boris and Tang are eating well, active, curious, purring, cleaning, and we love them both so much. Thank goodness I have my hair appt later this week to cover all my gray!!!!!
