Phew, I figured I'd better post this morning before LL sent out a search party. Papaya has been fine, a bit up and down as usual. This morning despite the high numbers she came out to the kitchen for breakfast. It actually surprised me because she's walking quite well so she came out more quietly than I have come to expect . . . there was just suddenly a cat str-etch-ing underfoot.

Why I vanished for a couple of days - not entirely cat-related but she does tie in later . . .

I thought I was going to have a quiet day home with her on Friday. In the middle of a creative frenzy of knitting projects, I went out mid-morning to do a few related errands . . . and unbelievably randomly in a decent-sized city, ended up driving down the road beside a friend ahem, The Man Of My Dreams  (who lives hours out of the city), which turned into me entertaining his parents for most of the rest of the day until he was free to join us all for supper. Um, did I mention my apartment was in the middle of craft projects, as in not exactly the scene I wanted to bring Hitherto Completely Unknown Parents of MOMD into? Oh well, we had a good time and they can be quite confident they got the 100% natural version of me. So I never did get back to post Papaya's numbers!

She approved of them all, apparently, and stayed sitting on the couch next to the dad the whole evening - which she usually will only do with MY dad. (Thanks for not biting anyone, Papaya!) Also, and this may seem a little silly but it was a nice revelation, I have kind of been hesitant to "pursue" MOMD because I was imagining what a family of frugal farmers would think of having a high-maintenance insulin-dependent cat. I don't think I should have worried - they just took it as proof that a cat should be running around outside eating mice, but didn't find it that odd that I had chosen to look after her. So maybe Papaya will be seeing more of them ;-)

Missed you all and will try to catch up on condos this afternoon! I gave Papaya a pokey-break this morning while she was so high. She does clear bounces fast sometimes but she would not have been down to an unsafe level before I left, so I I just let her sleep. There is just a trace of snow here so it's a good day to be inside and cozy!

Ugly numbers, Papaya, I am sending Zener with the ropes to give you a tug. Very cute about your entertaining MOMD and the parents. I come from a family of frugal farmers (the only kind  ) and I often think that my grandmother would be horrified at what we spend on the cats. Have a great day, Amy!

I was wondering why you were absent, but I see it was for a worthy cause!
Nice of Papaya not to bite. She was on board with making a good impression with the 'rents.

Re: 10/21 Papaya AMPS=552

Good for you, on the entertaining at the last moment, get in good with the parents  I hope it all works out for you with the MOYD :-D I've gotten those looks on "you do what to your cat?, and why?". Because they are our furbabies! My dads side are all farming people; My uncle had a dog with diabetes and he did the shots too so at least I'm not the only one on the farming side of my family even if the rest think I'm nutso:) I hope Papaya comes down from there for you today :-D Have a great day!

Re: 10/21 Papaya AMPS=552

I've been looking for a Papaya condo. I'm glad everything is okay. I hope you get to see more of them. It sounds like Papaya approves.

Liz, Lara, Rachel & Carla, thanks for stopping in to check on Papaya & I!

Liz - you're right. "Frugal farmer" is a bit redundant. I should have said . . . German farmers. I know you appreciate that one ;-)

Papaya came out to the hall for both installments of supper tonight - she seems to be enjoying being more mobile. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a bounce-clearing evening . . . look out below.

Looking much better with that PMPS, Papaya...got some action planned for tonight?

If the cat approves, you know you've got something good! Have a great evening, Amy!!

Hi, Amy, I agree: much better pre-shot tonight than this morning. Good job, Papaya :-D
I hope you're having a good evening!

Hi Amy, Pam, and Josie! Papaya was indeed saving the action for tonight . . . guess those ropes worked, Liz!

She's not alarmingly green. Yet. If it's one of these all-night slide things, there may be lower numbers to come. Recently just because she didn't finish her bedtime snack I stuck the dish on the long shelf/table running beside my bed which Papaya can easily access. A while after I turned out the lights she did plod down to the end of the shelf and clean the plate - I think she was quite smug about her independence  Previously I didn't think she would get up at night to eat, but I guess if it's handy enough for her she will. I'm glad to be able to leave something out for her that may help with the overnight lows.
