Phew, I figured I'd better post this morning before LL sent out a search party. Papaya has been fine, a bit up and down as usual. This morning despite the high numbers she came out to the kitchen for breakfast. It actually surprised me because she's walking quite well so she came out more quietly than I have come to expect . . . there was just suddenly a cat str-etch-ing underfoot.
Why I vanished for a couple of days - not entirely cat-related but she does tie in later . . .
I thought I was going to have a quiet day home with her on Friday. In the middle of a creative frenzy of knitting projects, I went out mid-morning to do a few related errands . . . and unbelievably randomly in a decent-sized city, ended up driving down the road besidea friend ahem, The Man Of My Dreams  (who lives hours out of the city), which turned into me entertaining his parents for most of the rest of the day until he was free to join us all for supper. Um, did I mention my apartment was in the middle of craft projects, as in not exactly the scene I wanted to bring Hitherto Completely Unknown Parents of MOMD into? Oh well, we had a good time and they can be quite confident they got the 100% natural version of me. So I never did get back to post Papaya's numbers!
She approved of them all, apparently, and stayed sitting on the couch next to the dad the whole evening - which she usually will only do with MY dad. (Thanks for not biting anyone, Papaya!) Also, and this may seem a little silly but it was a nice revelation, I have kind of been hesitant to "pursue" MOMD because I was imagining what a family of frugal farmers would think of having a high-maintenance insulin-dependent cat. I don't think I should have worried - they just took it as proof that a cat should be running around outside eating mice, but didn't find it that odd that I had chosen to look after her. So maybe Papaya will be seeing more of them ;-)
Missed you all and will try to catch up on condos this afternoon! I gave Papaya a pokey-break this morning while she was so high. She does clear bounces fast sometimes but she would not have been down to an unsafe level before I left, so I I just let her sleep. There is just a trace of snow here so it's a good day to be inside and cozy!
