Fiddy points uh owah! And Y'know.....I still have no idea if her heinously, crappus numbers this week were due to the cypro., the hairball, or if there's bacteria running amuck in there. Everything seems to clear at the same time, how can I possibly isolate the variables?? Punk had her last cypro yesterday and chucked up a hairball the size of California this morning. I also upcreased her to a 1.50U because she's been so yellow, I couldn't take it anymore. She still has the little, scabby itchies so I'm going to call the vet, he told me he'd give me ABs if the itchies didn't clear with the cypro....and they didn't.

WCR: happily, all Ps are in place and her appetite is still elevated. I suspect her appetite will drop back to normal once the cypro. is out of her system.
Punk's been mostly sluggish this week, but who wouldn't be with such high numbers.....here's her week at a glance:

Hi Ronnie!
I've done nothing to my lil Punk, she just looks like that when her numbers are in the 200 range.

I'm thinking if this +3 is a glance at things to come, we shouldn't be at this 1.50U verra long. I'll be home for another coupla hours so I'll monitor closely, I'm going to predict that she'll hit the 50s then start to go back up.

You know what happens when you predict!
Cats don't care what you say - they do their own thing!
You better watch out Jackie!
 have a good day!!

Welll. I was half scared that the pic was of the california sized hairball.

There are quite a few ABs they use for skin stuff.... but maybe her stuff is allergies? Do they have allergy meds for kittehs? Benadryl?

of course, she's not allowed to operate heavy machinery if she gets doped up on the benadryl.

I see that there were no 50's today. She's saving them up for a less convenient time.

I don't love yellow on you, Punk, blue and green look much better on gray kitties. I know you appreciate honest feedback, so there it is.

Last time she had this problem, the vet shot her up with convenia, luckily there were no adverse effects and it did clear up her skin. However, after reading about seizures, blindness and anemia from use of this drug, I'm not willing to risk it again. The only other AB Punk had is clav. I don't know if this will help with the itchie bumps. Since there was no sign of fleas or bites, vet does believe it's a non-bug related allergy. I've been going over everything in my mind, and I haven't changed anything in Punk's world so I don't know what it could be. I'm going to the vet's on Monday to pick up ABs, I'll ask about benedryl and skin tests too. Maybe I should post the allergy Q over in health? And of course I took away her car keys, just in case.

Ronnie - Me and my big font! Of course as soon as I wrote down my prediction, Punk went the other way!

from what i understand, convenia works especially well with skin infections or potential ones. there are plusses/minuses to many meds/ABs, so i wouldn't worry about it as much. cleo did perfectly fine on convenia.

obviously i wouldn't allow vet to give it willy nilly but it does have its uses. (totally understand that if they have a bad reaction we could be talking up to 65 days of fighting it, but that doesn't mean it's totally verboten for all kitties in all cases. just gotta target the AB to the specific type of infection.)
