10/19/25 Shooter passed

It's with great sadness I tell you Shooter went to kitty heaven last night. I know I haven't posted much this last year but know he was such a good boy and such a trooper. He had just started acupuncture and laser therapy (only had 2 treatments) and I was hoping it would help his severe arthritis and neuropathy. Unfortunately, he began having seizures and they were quickly getting worse. I had been in communication with the vet throughout the day but as they continued getting worse I had her come to the house to have him euthanized. Thankfully my parents were here for support through it all. Today has been tough although with everything we've been thru the last 6 months and all the times I balled and thought I was gonna have him put down I think it prepared me for last night. I'm having waves of grief and crying but I'm doing OK. Pepper cat doesn't know what to think or do and has been drinking more water than I have EVER seen him drink. Right now he's sleeping, so he doesn't have to think about it. I may end up doing the same later. We'll see how today goes. Thank you so much for all of your help over the last several years. I appreciate you all and this forum so much!

I'm so sorry, Heather! 18.5 years! What a good, long life he lived. And how brave of you to make that necessary but difficult decision to make things easier for him in the end. I hope the warm, happy memories of Shooter will bring healing to your broken heart.

FD and acro for over 4 years is a lot to deal with and you did such a great job with Shooter. You are right that with acro you can have lots of time to consider what is the right time to say goodbye. I found it really helped to think of the idea of the Rainbow Bridge, and our furry friends happy and playing once again.

Be gentle on yourself and take care of you. This is a hard time.
