I hope everyone had a great weekend, and a good Sunday yesterday. I went hiking, the weather in the chosen area was just too good to pass up. We are due for some great weather, sun and 65, all of which started yesterday. so..... off I went, in search of fall color, larches, blue skies and some outstanding creeks. What a great day it was, I was blessed with all things sought. Here is what I wrote in last nights post: "Hi everyone! I hope your Sunday has been a good one. I did make it out to go hiking, over near Leavenworth. What an outstanding day to be outdoors. Tons of fall color, larches, and a very pretty creek. Weather here was much the norm - all that fog and clouds in the morning, burned off in time for make for a great afternoon. Sure was foggy on HWY 2 today - that didn't clear until I was up near Stevens pass. It was however, a gorgeous day east of the pass. Sunny and nice in Leavenworth. Sunny and cold on the trail. It was reported to b be 31 I think. Good thing I layered up. LOL. It was a gorgeous hike today. It was an easy one, but nice. I think I did 6.5 miles, GPS said I climbed 1068 feet, though I'm not too sure where that was... trail is more or less flat, with some climbing. Oh well no matter. I had a blast while out there. I went for fall color, larches and some awesome creeks. I was fortunate today, and got all three. The colors this year are outstanding: vivid reds, intense yellows, warm oranges... and very prolific. The larches were just starting to turn yellow, but wow: very nice! and the creek? well Icicle Creek just never disappoints. This was great: Along the trail there is a section where folks have built several cairns. When I was here a few months ago, there were maybe 10 or so. Now there are dozens upon dozens, all of the outstanding, all so unique. The overall impression is quite nothing short of amazing. Found some larches too - yaHOO! all in all - fantastic day there. The drive over was very nice too alot of fall color this year, and it is all so vibrant. really great color, and alot of reds too. Very nice time." Normalcy in MusketeerVille!   BUT!!!! I am in DEEP SERIOUS TROUBLE. yes... once again I WAS LATE! 5 whole minutes late, and they cut me no slack     They were not happy. Elsa was staring at me, with that postire that said: SERIOUSLY? Five minutes????" and I swear I saw those squinty eyes that Mannie sued to do all the time when I was late... darn scary those squinty eyes. Bug as pacing, back and forth... back and forth... back and forth... he too as not pleased. And Lola? silly girl was still rolling on the stairs, down the stairs this time, on purpose I think so that she could swat at me as she ran back up them, just to roll down again.... Sheshhhhhh! Then out came the blood oath. and I'm thinking.... "seriously? for a five minute tardiness?" Guess so... Never ever mess with the Three Musketeers!  Funny thing was, as soon as I started up the stairs they threw the blood oath about my being late, never ever, and went an assumed the positions in the kitchen. So began the loudest kitty choir I have ever heard! All that for five minutes. But I guess they really were hungry..... Sorry guys! Normalcy in MusketeerVille for sure!

Have a great day everyone. Nicholas and William are with me again today, all five days this week. @-) I-) This is my last week of having them all five days. Today Nicholas will go to the pool, and William will spend that time with my DMIL. YAY!

KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN!! cat_pet_icon

Beautiful picks. What a great hike. 6.5 miles is a long way. The colors are amazing.

Oh no on being late again. The kitties clocks are so precise. I'm glad it was all forgiven and no one perished waiting for their supper.

Have a great day with the boys. Yay for swim day!

Beautiful pictures. That looks like it was a great hike. So funny on the kitties starving after only be 5 minutes late. Our kitties don't like their feeding schedule to be disrupted. I hope you're rested up for this week. Have a good swim day.

Hi everyone - I hope your day has been a good one. Our has been very nice. ur morning fog burned off about 10:30, so that was nice. We ended up with a sunny day, temps in the 50's. Actually a very nice fall day. The rest of the week still predicted to be sunny and 60. WOOT! We are all so looking forward to that! It was a good day in the pool today. As always Nichoals had a blast doing what he wanted to do today. Slides for a bit, swim the beach for a bit, and then off to the big pool. His enthusiasm in that pool is just unreal. Lots of flips and tosses and jump ins today. This was too fun: when we got to that pool there was a class just winding up. It looked like 4/5 yr olds? anyways they were doing jump ins. So Nihcolas decides he wants to be in the class, so off he went. He stood a respectable distance next to the kids and did what they did. Way too funny, but way cool too. ;-) :-D He did well today, did 1.5 hours almost, even with two obstacles. He was beat when we got there - falling sleep in the car. 1) Seems he was up alot last night when he should have been sleeping, wanting this and that, typical little kid stuff. So not much rest for him. and 2): The pool folks are working on the air system, and just re-tarred the roof. Guess people complained on the smell. so their solution was to open the glass doors along the sides of that big pool to air things out.  HUH????? it was 42 outside at that time.    I had to laugh though - you could feel the cold, and the steam was really rising off of the pool surface. It was kinda cool, figuratively and realistically. The cold really is not matter if you are a lap swimmer etc, but those little kids were cold. so... despite the lack of sleep, and his constant shivering he did very well. LOL: It didn't take him long to figure out he needed to stay in the water to stay warm. Not too sure when we will get back to the pool this week, as my DMIL is off on a three week trip, and I have no more day backup for the rest of the week, so whatever it is will have to be an evening swim. Hi Melisa - THX! It really is an outstanding hike. I try to go in the spring for all the wildflowers, and then again in the fall for the fall color and the larches. Yupp: the colors were so so nice!!! I so know on the being late, sheeesshh it was five minutes! But me too, all is forgiven, and they were content. THX on today - it was good. LOVE swim day! :-D

Hi Carla - THX on the pics! It really is a great one. most of it is flat, so one can take their kids on it too, it isn't too difficult. When Nicholas is a little older I will take him on this one. I think he'd love it. oh yes on the kitties! They made sure to remind me of that too. THX on the week - I hope I am too. Today was alot of fun.

Re: 10/14 LOOSE LIPS: fall color...larches...incredible cree

Thank you Michelle for sharing "fall colors"! :-D I miss them. I grew up in New England and miss autumn.
Here, the two primary colors are green and sand. Green on the tree, and brown on the ground, and somehow, nothing in between.

Re: 10/14 LOOSE LIPS: fall color...larches...incredible cree

Hi Bob - thanks for the visit! I have a friend who used to live here and now resides in FL. She says the same ting. She too has two colors: green for the palm trees, brown for the sand. I love the nothing in between - that is what she says too! I am glad you enjoyed the photos. I am so sure that you must missed the colors; New England area has such awesome Falls.

Hi Michelle,

I am another who misses the fall colors :-D Your pics are beautiful - the snow capped mountains already. I forget how cool it is in other parts of the country when we are still hitting mid 80's every day.  Glad you and Nicholas were able to get in swim time today!
