Good morning,
second cycle on 2 IU and last cycle with Chloramphenicol. I gave it with her shot in the morning and we are finished now. Such a relief!
Last night she was coming down a bit more with this extra drop of insulin. We saw some yellow numbers again. Today we started in pink but now we are hanging in red numbers at +4 still.
This afternoon I will check her ketones again. Hopefully they didn't rise.
Wendys remark with the possible sugar in the antibiotics was an eye opener. I looked at the spreadsheet again and it made perfectly sense, that the sugar was shooting her up. Especially after the evening dose at +4 - where she usually would go down - I could see her going up. I'm sure that doesn't explain her high numbers completely but maybe part of it.
I hope we can reverse it soon. I will also see if I can bit by bit reduce the carbs in her food again to < 6 % and feed 10 % or higher only when I have to leave the house.
On Wedenesday I have to be out of the house from shot time to shot time which I hate to do. Fortunately my neighbor is here again and has time to look after Binie. I hope the next two days are enough to see, where 2 IU without the antibiotic sugarbomb take Binie. I don't want my neighbor to run into problems.
My biggest wish is, that we are finally coming out of this constant state of health crisis and I can concentrate on regulating her diabetes. Strange enough: After the wounds on her breast healed well, she started to lick her breast again yesterday. Sometimes I just want to scream. Fortunately we know now, that Procaine injections can help. I just wonder, why this is always coming back again.
I hope everyone has a relaxed Sunday!
