Re: 10/11 Furball, AMPS=289

I brought in three syringes once to my WalMart pharmacist to show her that one syringe had the zero line at the top, one about 1/4 unit down, and the third about 1/2 unit down from the top. She complained to ReliOn for me, and ReliOn sent me like 3 biosafe containers to send the three unused syringes back to them, and mailed me a coupon for a free box of more inconsistant syringes
I stopped by recently to tell her, that now I use calipers and she said "good idea" with a thumbs up.

Re: 10/11 Furball, AMPS=289

It is scary how much of a difference there is in the syringes, especially when we are dealing with the low doses. Nice sunny start for Furball today. Glad to hear she is happy purry. Those are the best kind of days. Have a great day Carla!

A digital caliper is the way to go. No more doubting if it's a consistant dose. :thumbup
If you're using the caliper , dont change the brand of the syringe because different brands have their different size of the caliper.

Re: 10/11 Furball, AMPS=289

Hope you are able to get some consistency. I never thought of colored water. Read it on one of your posts earlier...what a great idea.

Have a great day Furball.

Morning Carla

I so believe it on the syringes... tossed two yesterday due to the line markings. Good luck with the calipers!

A nice start today for Furball. Maybe some blues later?

Enjoy your day toady - I hope it is a good one.

Re: 10/11 Furball, AMPS=289

Good morning Carla and Furball! I'm not surprised about the syringes from what everyone says around here. My current box is screwy. I'm waiting for my calipers. I count drops from a unit line and the last couple the number of drops to the 1/2 unit changed :-| It would be nice to see what Leo's numbers looked like if he actually got the same correct dose every shot!

A lot of ReLion syringes were recalled in 2008 because they were mislabeled. If you wanted to, you, as a consumer, can file an adverse event report with FDA to complain about problems like this. FDA has a MedWatch system for anyone to use. It asks for information like lot numbers, description of the problem, was anyone hurt, etc. No one has to be hurt to file a report. Inaccurate syringes is a perfect thing to report because someone could be overdosed. You don't have to fill out everything, just what's relevant. FDA DOES take all these reports seriously. I submitted a report a few years ago for a food problem, and they contacted me for a sample. In some cases, ReLion would have had to report your complaint to FDA anyway, especially if yours was not the only complaint, so it's not like you're starting something big by filling out the form. I work for FDA - MedWatch helps everyone keep unsafe products off the market.

Anyway, I'm not saying you have to go do that - I'm just giving the information here to anyone to help keep our families and kitties safe. Some people may trash FDA, but there's a lot of good stuff happening there.

Have a great day! Ok happy, purry Furball, slide down a little, ok?

Re: 10/11 Furball, AMPS=289

Hi Carla, I've been procrastinating with the calipers, but I see what you're saying with all the inconsistencies. Glad Furball is feeling all purry and well today.

I went to Harbor Freight Tools and bought some calipers. Now I just have to figure out how to use them. Furball was happy & purry this evening.

Hi Carla. I too, purchased the calipers and have been procrastinating, waiting for a dose that doesn't have it's own line.
Well, I wasn't having luck with Checks being on .25u, ended up going back up to .5.
Now you have me thinking, if I had measured with the calipers and gotten consistent doses, I may find a good dose between the .25 and 0.5.

Hope Furball comes down nicer for you tomorrow.

This is what I think happened with Moonie today!! Miss dosed!!!!!!!!!
I have had a battle with BD for years & Now use monoject which also suck!!!! I could scream with all the inconsistancy in these syringes!!
I had enough things befall me today & didnt need to have a screwed up dose--Believe me more insulin goes in my sink than in Moonie!!!!!!!!!
But them she is on 0.1 which is hard anyway..Hope Furball comes down tomorrow--Happiness is a warm cuddly cat--Sending Hugs & Love from us!!!
