Good Morning, Lantus Land! It's still technically morning, isn't it?

Just now I gave Rufus (and J-F) a little snack (just a quarter of a 3oz. can of FF each). I wanted to make sure Rufus stayed even, since he had a bigger drop from his AMPS than ordinary. These days it seems like he just really wants to be in the 70s. I have no problem with that, but I'll be checking again at 10:55 (that's just before +4) to make sure he's doing it. Raise your voice if you think I should be watching more closely.

Believe it or not, this is the first time I've gotten a chance to really sit down and scribble. I woke up, took care of Rufus, let John-Finn out of his room and took care of him, fed the girl, let the girl go outside, answered Mom's text messages, took care of email, let the girl back in, ate breakfast... you get the idea.

I prevented about three Rufus Attacks in a span of five minutes. Can you believe him? He is REALLY not wanting to share his house! It looks like it's coming to a head, though... maybe that means the bullying behavior is almost over. Hmm. That would be nice. All Kitty functions are normal, though. He's using his box normally, eating and drinking, even playing a little. No purrs, though - he's pretty ticked off lately.

Eh - that's our morning. Sun bathing right now.

I hope everyone else has been having a good morning. And here's hoping for a good day to match!

Another beautiufl day for Rufus! Good boy!!! I see there is no night time check last night Bee....it's best to get one to see where he is going during that PM cycle. Lots of kitties go really lower at night...just sayin...
Hope you have a wonderful day! That LC should help him keep up the surf....like yesterday! :mrgreen:

Clearly the LC wasn't good enough. Yikes! Should I give him a teaspoon of HC or something? Think we might be out of corn syrup. (Glad I restocked the food before Mom headed to MI!)

Yes, HC gravy and recheck in 15 to make sure he is going up. That is a dosecrease earned for the boy!

Ok, apparently we felt like going sky diving today, and forgot to pack our parachute. I gave a little more HC - more than I intended to, in fact. Shame on me for attempting to use the nearly full can to catch any particles that fell from the measuring spoon - thus, putting more HC directly in his reach. ohmygod_smile

42! No more free fall, hopefully. I'll get a +5.25 to follow its trail.

Gosh, on Rufus' first visit from the HYPOpotomatus he was so adamant about plummeting... I remember we had to give him nearly an entire can of HC to get him out of the 40s. Hopefully he can stay stable with this much.

Yikes Rufus....what are you doing down there. Are you sure the gravy is HC considering how much he has had without much of a rise?

The food is grilled chicken and beef in gravy... I think it's one of the foods we used last time, and he took a long time to get out of the 40s then, also. I'm about to offer him some pasta if he doesn't pick himself up soon!

Maybe you need something higher carb, if it took a long time last time too. Do you have anything higher? Just guessing tho, I'm not an advice guru, so don't take my word for it.

No other HC cat food... but I do have dog food. I don't know what the carb content is, but it's pretty awful stuff, and when he gets into it, he usually soars throughout the day. (I'd rather have him in the moderate-highs than bouncing around the 40s all day).

Depending on the size of the chunks of the dog food, perhaps give him a 1/4 and see what he does, if he doesnt' get out of the 40's by now.

Blackie's on the same surfboard as Rufus is. Has Rufus had corn syrup yet? May help him.

I just saw Blackie's numbers - boy... you think they conspired to do this to get some gravy out of it? Rufus would do it.

Yeah, I'm going to give him a little plop of the dog food. He'll be in carbo-heaven and hopefully his numbers will bounce up into something manageable for him.

49 at +6.75... I gave him a dab of karo. He was seriously unimpressed by that. Checking again at +7.

It looks like the Grilled Chicken & Beef is about 14% carb. That's probably why you're not getting a good bump. Do you have any honey or maple syrup in the house. It's probably better to use than dog food.

I just did karo (turns out we didn't use it all when we made hard candy), and we've got about five minutes until I'm going to check him again. I hope it'll be a good enough boost. Need to get a better HC food!

it looks like he is just insisting on surfing low today. Lucy did that sometimes. As long as he is surfing and not dropping, he's ok. It's after +6 so low carb might keep him surfing, or low carb with a couple of drops of syrup in it if that will make you feel better.

One stubborn guy you have there! He really must like the 40's. I wish you luck - just keep at it. Out of the 40's would be so good.

And I think you're doing a great job - sure keeps us busy, doesn't it. Come on Rufus - green is good and all, but a little higher would be prefect.

Rufus applied that "Go Green" message a little extremely and to the wrong area of his life, I think. As of +7 he is 53, though. :lol: I think Libby is correct - he's just going to surf low whether I'm happy about it or not! I'll feed LC and see if it does the job. He ought to be back on his way up soon, anyway. I think this is just one of those Heavy Testing Days.

I did karo at about 2pm (+7) and now, thirty minutes later, Rufus is still rising - no feeding, no more karo, nothing. I think that dog food might be pretty helpful - it always sends him into the clouds. Now, I'm going to see if it was the kick-start he needed. I'll give his ears a little break and see how he's doing at +8. If he's still rising (substantially) I'll let him do that on his own until +11. I can worry about his PM dose then. If he's down again I'll throw a temper tantrum, curse the stars, and cry, "Why me? Why?"... and then, I guess I'll come back and start over. :lol:

The only question is... tonight's dose! I know, it could go any of three ways, really - he could go up, like he's supposed to; he could stay stable; or he could double dip. (I might just have to ground him and take away his tricycle keys if he does). There's no way in heaven or earth I'm going to give him 1.25u tonight to finish that off. So, 1.00u, or Skinny 1.00u? Any input? Rufus would like to know so that he can tweet it to all his pals and update his facebook status to "Chillin' at ____u now. Down with the juice! Rock will never die!"

Yes. Yes, I have completely lost my mind.

Rufus earned himself a dose reduction today for sure...your new dose is 1.0u
Congratulations and good luck with the dosecrease! That is a nice PMPS if you are ready to feed and shoot!
Try to get a test in tonight Bee....maybe a +1 and see where he is going? Can you do that? You have to keep an eye on him with these pretty lower numbers, okay?
