Prayers Needed Please

Dyana, hi! I am not so present on the Forum these days. I miss reading your nice narratives about the so smart and observant Jackson. ❤️ I send him some cuddles and my warmest wishes ❤️ I like him so much from a distance! (If this is the right way to put it in English...)

Have a good day 🤍😊

You are always so nice and uplifting and thoughtful.
Thank you Clarice. I like reading your responses on the forum.

Enjoy your day too ❤️

I asked the people at work to pray, and I asked my friends on Facebook to prayer.
About 4.5 hours ago on my break at 11:00am, Sabrina went out my sliding glass door when I went to put my Christmas Cactus back outside as it was in the 30s last night.
And, right after she went out the nextdoor neighbor's construction crew started up their table saw, and off she went. I saw her racing up and down my sliding glass door and by the time I went out the front door she was gone. The neighbor to my left is replacing their floor.
Very soon after that I find out my nextdoor neighbor to the right is having their flooring replaced too and their construction crew are hard at work. So, I have table saws to the left and really loud banging and sanding and sawing to the right.
I've been out side for 4.5 hours and have called her name about 700 times. There is so much noise.
She has only been outside for a few minutes at the time and only a few feet from my deck. I always called them and said the word treats and they always come right back in and get fed, but that is when I get off of work. Today it was in the late morning, I told my boss I don't know when I'll be back to work.
If all this noise ever stops,... It's now 3:36m, maybe I can call her and she will show up.
I am so devistated. She lost her collar a week ago and hasn't been allowed out since.
She is micro-chipped but must be so scarred out there for all this time.
I have a sleeping bag, and maybe if I sleep outside tonight she will come to me.
Meanwhile, Jackson has been staying in the house with the sliding glass door open because he ain't going outside with all that noise on either side of him. I asked him to help me find Sabrina and he meowed once (he normally talks to me in cat talk and does not meow). I just came in for a sec to check on him, and he was munching on a large bag of Temptations that I must have left out that I was trying to shake to lure Sabrina back in, so he got a LOT of treats to ruin his cycle.
Okay back outside for me. Please pray that she's been hiding somewhere close outside and will come back when all of these horrible people with all their loud noises go away.............................................................. Please :(

My thoughts and good luck for Sabrina to come home asap!! Hopefully things will quiet down by this evening and Sabrina will dart back home!!

I'm so sorry!! SABRINA!! Come home!!! MAMA MISSES YOUU!! I've heard that leaving out food and also something that smells familiar can be helpful (like a blanket she likes to sleep on or a bed). You can also try local lost pet groups on facebook/nextdoor/your local subreddit.

Put one of the litter boxes outside.
If there is music that you play all the time, put the speaker near the door. Does not have to be loud. Softly.
Ask the neighbour who Sabrina is most familiar with to come over and sit on the porch with you for a bit. A second familiar voice.
Do you have a motion camera? Does a neighbour? At least you can find out which way she went.
Take Jackson out onto the deck in his carrier. Talk to him.
Vines for a quick return home.

And a bottle of wine for you when she is. 🍷 :bighug:

Dyana, I’ve just seen this. Thank you for your lovely words ❤️

But oh my goodness... 🙏🏼 I’ll be praying for you tonight. Hopefully, once the night falls and things quiet down, Sabrina will feel safe enough to come back. Thankfully, Jackson is safe inside the house 🙏🏼

I really hope all that noise finishes soon. I’ll be praying for Sabrina. We’ll wait to hear more from you 🙏🏼🤍

What @Red & Rover (GA) said. If you have a litter box she has used. Maybe one of her beds too? You want familiar smells near your house. Ask neighbours to check sheds or garages. She could have raced inside one, then the door closed. Maybe print off a few posters with her picture and your contact info and put them nearby.

Hoping at night when the work crews go away she'll be brave enough to come home. If you can't stay up, stuff an empty box with some blankets so she has a warmer place to go.

You'll be in my thoughts. :bighug::bighug:

Dyana, something to remember is this: cats form a strong bond with their environment. That is her home. You’ve heard those stories about cats traveling sometimes hundreds of miles to get back to home?? They are bonded to that place. That is a powerful instinct you have going for you. Here are some good tips from AI:

Immediate Search Steps
    • Search the immediate radius: Look within a 50-foot to 3-house radius of the escape point. Indoor cats rarely bolt far; instead, they freeze, panic, and squeeze into dark, tight, hidden spaces like under porches, decks, sheds, bushes, or cars.
    • Look in silence: Do not yell or call loudly. Scared indoor cats are in survival mode and will not meow—even if their owner walks right past them—because they are trying to hide from predators.
    • Use a flashlight: Shine a strong flashlight into dark crevices, under bushes, and up into low tree branches, even during the daytime, to catch the reflection of the cat's eyes.
    • Check neighbors' property: Ask immediate neighbors to check their garages, sheds, window wells, and under outdoor furniture immediately before doors or gates get locked up.

Luring and Recovery Strategies
    • Warm up strong-smelling food: Microwaving a can of wet cat food or tuna (with its juices) creates a potent scent trail that carries better through the air. Place it near the exit or a hiding spot.
    • Sit low and stay calm: If the cat appears, do not rush or try to grab them. Grabbing a panicked cat will often trigger them to bolt again. Instead, sit quietly on the ground, talk in a soft, normal tone, and let the cat approach the food or come indoors on its own terms.
    • Leave a door or window accessible: If safe to do so, leave the door slightly cracked or keep a close eye on the exit point they used, as many indoor cats try to sneak back inside during quiet hours like late at night or early dawn.
    • Use familiar scents: Put an unwashed dirty t-shirt, a piece of the owner's worn clothing, or the cat's favorite bedding near the door (avoid leaving out heavy food bowls that might attract raccoons, possums, or stray animals).
Spreading the Word
    • Notify local networks: Post a clear photo, a brief description, the exact cross-streets, and a phone number on local lost-pet Facebook groups, neighborhood apps (like Nextdoor), and local shelter/rescue websites.
    • Check microchip details: Call the microchip company to ensure the contact phone number and address are up to date.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Please stay strong! I completely agree with the tip about putting her litter box outside—it really helps them catch the familiar scent. Also, I know it sounds a bit crazy, but if you see any street cats outside, try asking them to tell her to come back home if they see her. It actually works! Praying so hard that sweet Sabrina comes back to you safe and sound very soon. Sending you the biggest hug. 🤍

Ditto to what @Red & Rover (GA) and @Mary & Jude said.

In my experience, when an indoor cat accidentally gets outside and panics, they typically bolt and then hunker down somewhere hidden and “safe” (and stay there for quite awhile). It’s usually not far away, although they might lose their bearings given they ran in fear so might have no idea where they are or how to get home.

I’d quietly walk the area with a flashlight, after dark when the world is silent and calm, looking under/behind bushes, sheds, cubbies, anything that a cat might perceive to be “safe.” I’ve gently called a name when looking, but it needs to be softly and calmly if you do that. A panicked or loud voice can make them even more afraid. And if you see her, no fast movements or loud noises (hard to do I know). She’s already stressed and confused, you don’t want her to run again.

I’d have a towel on me while searching, so you can scoop her up and hide her face while getting home.

I’d also put tuna or a smelly food next to your door to try to lure her back if she’s close.

Finally, leave fliers at every neighbor within a few block radius with instructions to call any time of day or night and NOT to chase her. No need to scare her more. And I’d report that she’s lost to animal rescue groups and shelters, perhaps even to the police if you live in an area where that’s allowed. Definitely leave some of your worn clothing that smells like you outside the door as well.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Sending lots of “come home” energy your way.

So sorry, and thinking of you, Dyana.

One of my parents’ cats somehow snuck out on Christmas Eve when I was young. We didn’t even realize it until very early the next morning and looked everywhere (inside and out). He came up to the back of our house after we had been out for looking for a long while. I think he had been hunkered down nearby, like JL mentioned, and heard our voices/food bowl.

❤️

I just saw this. Sabrina come home please. Oh Dyana, I know how scary it is and I really hope she comes home soon and all ends up being okay. I remember one Christmas about 30 years ago, my cat and I went to my dad's and his wife's in rural Montana. I was going to the van to get something and Django slipped out and did not come back. I was a wreck. She was gone for over a day, and when she came back she had 3 gashes down one side of her body and one down the other, and i am quite sure an owl almost got her, and she hid for days until she dared come out when i was calling for her. She also, a few years before that, wandered off when i was painting a house and got locked in a neighbor's garage. I heard her crying and was able to get her out.
All that said, may Sabrina come home, and may all the treats not send Jackson too far akilter.
