1 week into prozinc and my cat is now hates the shot's what do i do?

like my GLU meter can tell me if they are keytones present (or not) also the day i found out she was diabetic the vet did a urine sample and her keyones were ''high''
But what kind of ketone readings have you been getting recently. I made a place on my spreadsheet to record ketone values. I bought a special meter with special strips for testing ketones — works exactly like a regular glucometer with blood from an ear prick, but uses special strips for the ketones (different strips for glucose.). I did this after my boy had DKA and spent a week in emergency care.

ahh i didnt even know that!
and my meter wont tell me the amount of ketones... just if they are there or not kinda like a (yes or no) i can try to to pick up some ketone strips but wont be able to next week or so vet merely said nothing much about the ketones either then ''we dont wanna see them in her blood'' ....like yeahhhh pretty sure i knew that (also why im saying they have not been helpful)

Sorry about the possible fur shot. She definitely was high. But today is a new day and she’s going to do better.

yeahh i really didnt expect her to jolt off the way she did.. and the fur shot seemed to only happens when i change the location (like near the shoulder ) this morning she looked like she was about to do the same so now i was kinda holding her down(not pinning her) for them while she munches on some treats cuz i swear ONE DAY she gunna git me with that darn syringe lol

Question: your spreadsheet says you shot 1.1 unit this morning? Is that measured on a U-100 syringe, or how did you measure that? Normally with a U-40 increases are done in .25 increments if they are warranted.

UMMMM.....things arent going welll

errrr no...ive been using the ''elimedical'' brand U-40 syringes with 1/2 unit marks so i just eyeballed ''half of that half unit''( little less then that even) marking... seeing her +2 went sorta up has me confused i figured it was gunna drop

all in all she was muuuuuch closer to the 1U mark then the 1.5 mark without a doubt. so that why i went with the bizzare 1.1U lol

Okay. So halfway between the half unit mark and the 1 would be 1.25 units. Just barely past the 1 unit mark would be a “fat 1 unit dose.”

Don’t be upset. It’s okay that the +2 hasn’t gone down yet. The insulin hasn’t kicked in yet. It usually onsets at about +2. That’s isn’t really considered a rising number over the AMPS. Blood glucose meters are allowed to have a variance of about 20 percent so those two yellow numbers are considered flat. So I expect she will go down after this.

huh? not sure where the ''ummm things arent going well came from'' my bad...everything pretty much the same as any other day

everything else i did type.
okay ill just put 1.25U in the chart instead.

and ill keep and eye and keep feeding her snacks but just not as much since i need her to be hungry for dinner shot.

no no i just more thinking if that's what this ''insulin resistance looked like'' or the ''rebound'' like i say.... i have alot to learn when understanding these charts and the numbers and the doses haha

Yes. And you should not feed her after +6 anyway— so that gives her some hours to get hungry. The exception to that would be if you must give food to raise her numbers.

Good because I got worried about things not going well.

sounds good! give that a shot and keep and eye on her.

yeah i think it was either a glitch or an old draft that got pulled from the night she was puking.

Did you get another test?

yes i just got back home and i was able to log her +6 she looking pretty well kinda got alot more energy then the past week

Good blue 144!

yes! makes me happy to see even if its not out of the woods...yet

also cool to know is the ''ketone'' indicator on my meter hasn't triggered once today

If shes a similar number or higher in her PMPS then i will give her the same dose as this morning (1.25U)
and well see how i feel if its less then that. (my guess it will be high like all the other PMPS tests)

and i think ill just try to stick to this formula for a few days.

i wanna keep her out of the red and pink as much as possible because everytime she just looks like hell and back....And when she's in yellow or blue she's alot more alert and active and less depressed. so i kinda think her body is used to the insulin by now just she aint getting enough...shes still looking very skinny and my vet wants me to ''beef'' her up but its hard if her body is ''stealing all the fat'' so the more stable i can get her the more her body will chill out and repair....

AND i also filled out the form for the assistance from that website so hopefully i will hear back from them in a few weeks!

Which shot yesterday was the fur shot or suspected fur shot? She was coming down into yellow yesterday and last night she was on a trajectory to go lower. Whenever you see that, it’s time to make sure you get an evening test.

If you have a furshot, put FS on your spreadsheet in the units cell — it helps with interpreting the spreadsheet numbers. If it’s a possible fur shot and you are unsure if any insulin got in, but perhaps some did — then put PFS in the units cell.

Also, can you start a new thread and put a link to this one in the first comment that you make (just by copying the url for this thread and pasting it into the new thread.)? This one has gone on to two pages now and is long. We don’t like threads to exceed about 50 posts. I am often not good at remembering to ask people to start new threads.

hey! i was able to get a copy of her ''hemotology''(blood) work but if there a good place to compare these numbers? like how do i know if her potassium is too high (this was the blood work from the day she was diagnosed)

sure no worries ill start a new thread here after i get fidget tested and fed and shot here :)

Doesn’t the lab report have a reference range of numbers on it showing the range that’s considered within normal limits? I just took a screenshot of my labs tab from my spreadsheet. You will see a column for “Range”.

just started a new thread so ill start talking on that one

ahh yes it did...i just didnt know i was supposed to add ''ranges'' them in ( ill do that in a bit here) and yeah i also was not sure how you do that picture upload...haha (i would link the bloodwork to the thread)

I just took a screenshot with my phone and then did a copy photo and pasted it into the thread. It’s weird. Sometimes it just puts the photo in there and other times it asks me if I want to upload a thumbnail or full image. It may be the difference between whether I am actually inserting a screenshot or an actual photo that I took.
