WCR: starting mocha on a new pen today .. these pink numbers stink ... Other then that, nothing new with mocha ...

As far as twix goes, yes, the vet has confirmed in the past that what we are dealing with are rodent ulcers. It was basically done as a visual confirmation, no real testing to determine it, if there is such a thing. But twix has always had allergies and the vet said that relates to the ulcers as well. Twix never had a rodent ulcer until the summer we put her on wet food and now she gets them every few months it seems like. I know there probably isn't a connection between the two, but that's not how my mind works. I feel like the wet cat food kick started the problem. Anyways, each treatment has consisted of a steroid shot and once she had an antibiotic because it was on her upper lip (like this one) and she licked it and licked it until became infected. About three days after her shot the ulcer goes away. I just didn't know if pill form steroids were safer to use? But it sounds like if we have to wean her down, the one time shot might be easier. Getting her steroid shots makes me sick to my stomach ..

Re: 1/5 mocha amps 386

sorry to hear about all these problems with Twix, hope things improve.
And hope Mocha comes down from the stinky pink floor for you.

Have a better day

Re: 1/5 mocha amps 386

Oh poor baby, Twix, with the rodent ulcers. Hope she is on the mend soon. I hope Mocha comes down and gives you better numbers.

Re: 1/5 mocha amps 386

Hi Devon,
I hope that Twix will get over this allergy, or whatever it is. The periodic aspect almost sounds like a human herpes flare-up. Mocha, on the other hand, is up to her usual game of numbers: high then low, low then high. I hope the new pen will bring her down a bit today and help her find more consistency.
Hang in there!

Ella & Rusty

Hi, Devon & Mocha.. Twix too, I'm sorry to hear about the allergies, hope Twix is all better soon & that Mocha sees some better #s soon :-D

Re: 1/5 mocha amps 386

Away with the stinky-pinkies, out out dang pink we say! But glad Mocha feels well & is happy! Sure hope Twix is back to herself real soon too.

Re: 1/5 mocha amps 386

ah mocha - back to the pink floor? Maybe Mannie is hosting another party up there and that is why ll the kitties are headed to the pink zone. Down you go - all of you!

Have a great day today. And Good luck with Twix. I hear you on the steroid shots. I don't know if the pill route would be better or not.

Re: 1/5 mocha amps 386

The main diff between pills and shots is the shot just is longer lasting if you go with pills for allergies or the rodent ulcers like Twix has then most vets put the cat on pred like on a every other day schedule just depends on the cat and condition hope which ever you go with Twix gets better and the ulcers heal fast, we had a aby girl here that only got rodent ulcers when she would go into heat her entire neck was just one big ulcer and her lips too so we spayed her and it never came back thankfully she is almost 8 now and its never came back

Hope Mocha leaves the pink floor soon ;-)

Re: 1/5 mocha amps 386

Awww poor litte Twix. I hear you about not wanting to do the steroids, Devon. My civvie, Samantha (ga), had severe itching that the docs couldn't track the cause of, and had to get a steroid shot periodically. It was the only thing that helped her. I really wish you could know the cause and could eliminate it, for Twix.

And Mocha, get down here right now, young lady!!

I couldn't get my 3yo granddaughder out of my chair with that attitude. Maybe it'll work better on Mocha.

Re: 1/5 mocha pmps 182

Glad that Mocha has a much better PMPS than her AMPS!!

About Twix...you know I have the same thing with Thunder and it just sucks!! I hate giving him either type of steroid for fear that he is going to get diabetes because of it!! I've only gotten the shot for him one time though, all other times I stick to the pill. Not sure which is better, cause lord knows getting him to take the pill is NOT fun!! I never know when he is going to have a flare up because I don't know what the allergy is so I just pray each day that I don't see anything. He's actually been good on the wet food and (anti jinx) he's been good since November...So I definitely feel for you and wish there was something I could say or do...but it all seems like a crap shoot to me

Re: 1/5 mocha pmps 182

Thanks pamela .. we don't know what the allergy is either and I am always on the lookout for a flare up .. I just thought to myself the other day things were going good, and then when we noticed it, I said that to peter and he said he had just thought the same thing, but didn't want to jinx anything ... so much for that!
