WCR: Buzz is doing well. Appetite is excellent but not ravenous, coat is looking good, she purrs and hangs out near me a lot these days. I have been doubling up on the Neosporin +pain relief (using it before AND after each test) and although her ears are always greasy-feeling, they are looking better and she isn't acting like they are as sensitive as they were a few days ago.

I was thrilled to see the yellow at AMPS and even MORE thrilled to see this green! She just had her second meal of the day so in a few hours I'll check again (once the food spike is gone; hers seem to last a long time) and see how she's doing. Mr. Green is very appropriate for this post, I think.

Re: 1/30 Buzz AMPS: 252/Help for PM shot!

Here is her cycle so far:
+5.5: 60 (meal)
+8: 53 (snack)
+8.5: 59 (snack)
+9.5: 61
+11: 68

I shot on a rising 99 the other morning, but 68 is a lot lower. It's okay to shoot though, right? Fiancé will be home to monitor. Scared!
ETA: shot time is in one hour. Could be higher by then of course.

Re: 1/30 Buzz AMPS: 252/Help for PM shot!

No, I edited that post because I realized it wasn't clear. ;) I am shooting at +12, just trying to get an idea ahead of time so I don't have to delay. :)

Re: 1/30 Buzz AMPS: 252/Help for PM shot!

I don't think you have the data yet to shoot a 68. It does look like Buzz's numbers are on the rise. Can you post at PMPS? Will your fiance be able to test at +1 and +2 at the minimum?

Yes, I can post at PMPS. I will be able to get in a +1 before I leave, and he will be able to test as much as needed.

Re: 1/30 Buzz AMPS: 252/Help for PM shot! PMPS: 70

I'd like to see Buzz a bit higher than a 70. Can you stall for 15 min. and re-test (without feeding)?

Re: 1/30 Buzz AMPS: 252/Help for PM shot! PMPS: 70

he's surfing, and he has risen from his +8. You shot a 99 yesterday. DF will be home to test (what time will you be back?). Does DF know what numbers to feed low carb or high carb food to?

Re: 1/30 Buzz AMPS: 252/Help for PM shot! PMPS: 70

Yes, I can wait 15 minutes without feeding, and I will do so.

All we know as far as when to feed LC is from PZI, so if you could advise on when to do HC and LC for Lantus, that would be great. Today when she was in the 50s, I was just giving her small LC snacks. I would give HC if she went to 40 or 45; is that correct?

Re: 1/30 Buzz AMPS: 252/Help for PM shot! PMPS: 70

Sarah -- If Libby is encouraging you to shoot, go ahead and shoot. When you have a minute, could you let us know what the info on HC vs. LC was for PZI?

Hey Sarah! Just wanted to drop in the condo and say Buzz is doing great! Good job Sarah... :thumbup

Re: 1/30 Buzz AMPS: 252/Help for PM shot! PMPS: 70

Should I stick with the same dose?

I don't think there is an official guideline for HC/LC on PZI; I just know what I did, based on advice I got when I was new (from whom, I don't remember). As I got more comfortable with lower #s, I would feed HC below 40 and LC below 55. When Buzz was OTJ, she was usually in the 60s or 70s, so those are pretty normal #s for her. Her (civvie) brother showed a 56 when I checked his BG, so that seems to be a pretty normal # as well.

Re: 1/30 Buzz AMPS: 252/Help for PM shot! PMPS: 70

that sounds pretty much like what I would do, LC down to 40-ish and HC below that. I would go ahead and shoot, if you're comfortable with that. You can stall a bit longer if you prefer.

+1: 102
+2.5: 94
+4.5: 60 (fed regular meal)
+7.5: 62 (fed small LC snack before bed)

The good news is that we never had to feed her due to hypoglycemia. We did feed as normal, so that may have prevented us needing to feed. I would call that a COMPLETELY successful day! :)

Thanks, Libby and Sienne, for your help, and everyone else for the encouragement and good wishes. :-D
