Spot has been the purrrrfect of kitties lately! He slept beside me for most of the night and was very patient this morning waiting for his test since I had to tend to Ralphie (more on him in a few). He was not the furry purry fellow for his test, tho, but he sat on my lap and waited for his treat afterwards. Very patient in regards to having to wait for his breakfast. Ate his breakfast and then proceeded to go sit on the recliner, where I left him all nice and snug.

At 4:45 am, Molly jumped off the bed and started to bark. I wasn't sure what was going on so I got up to check things out. Ali and Spot were just sitting around and Ralph was walking around. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but then I heard my mom say, look in the bathroom, I think I heard a noise in there. Before I went to check it out, I gave Ralph some love and his belly was soaking wet. I'm like, wth....looked in the bathroom, thinking that maybe he fell in the toilet, but no, nothing out of the ordinary there. Checked in the entry way, where their water dish was and there it was....the dish was upset and water was all over the floor. The only thing I can think of is that Ralph got "stuck" in the corner (he's been going in corners lately and just standing there) and somehow stepped in the bowl and got himself all wet. I picked him up and dried him off with a towel and then the blow dryer on low. He handled it well. I then let him relax a little while I got ready for work and gave him his meds. Oh, how he hates that tramadol. He foams at the mouth and gets this look on his face and he stiffins up. I'm beginning to doubt whether this is his teeth causing him these problems. Maybe he had a stroke or something...I just don't know. All I know is that I want my Ralphie back. He walks and walks and walks and when he finally lays down to sleep he doesn't put his little head down. I have a call into the vet this morning, they aren't answering phones yet. Going to see if I can push up the dental date, just to get that done and then see what we can do for him. Please, pray for a miracle.

As for me and mom, we are feeling better. Mom took the day off from work today, I feel well enough to venture out. Would have liked another day of rest, but I have to many things to do. I don't think I will be able to visit many condo's this morning, sorry, but I will be hoping that everyone is having a wonderful day and that all kitties remain happy and healthy!

Prayers being said for Ralph that he gets a vet visit & can be treated! Sending our most potent Healing vines & snowflakes to Ralph-
Deb, Copper my civvie has been acting strange too lately--I think he has lost some hearing--He paces & does have a slight heart murmur--We are also going to the vet--
Hope we both gte our babies back to normal--We lubs you & Spot & gang- Hugs !!

Nice AMPS for Spot thday, Deb! I am so sorry to hear this about Ralphie....I hope the vet can figure out what is going on with him. Sending healing vines to ((Ralphie)) and hugs to you (((Deb)))

(((((((((((Ralph and Deb)))))))))))))) Keeping you two in my thoughts today also. Wishing the vet is open and they can help give answers.

I know when Maverick was acting wierd (just night time moewing - wierd for him though) I was told it could be high blood pressure (and this can cause eyesight issues), or hyper T.

I'll be checking in often for updates.

Hi Deb,
I hope that you'll be able to get Ralphie into the vet's soon. Perhaps the Tramadol is causing his additional problems. In any case, he should be checked out. Thinking positive thoughts and sending healing vines to Ralphie.

Hugs,
Ella & Rusty

p.s. to Spot: great AMPS!

Ralph will be going in on Wednesday to get his dental. Dr. M will be doing it, I feel more confident with her than with Dr. Ann....not that Dr. Ann is a bad vet, just Dr. M. is the older, wiser vet.

Roni, sorry to hear about Copper. Ralph did the crying thing at night too, for a while. I just assumed it was because he wanted to go into his grammie's room at night (she keeps it closed, lol). I am just so worried about him. The Ralph I have now is not the Ralph I had at the beginning of December. My heart just aches for him and I am in tears right now thinking about this.

Pat, thanks for the vines and the hugs. We can really use them.

Karrie, vet did not think it was hyper-T, no retinal detatchment and did not think that was an issue. However, he will be getting his blood pressure taken on Wednesday when he gets his dental.

Elle, that could be a possibility. I would think that the tramadol would make him a little lathargic, wouldn't it? Maybe he's so zonked out on it, it's having a hyper effect on him, I dunno.

My fears are that there is something wrong inside his brain. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that an infection or a virus could cause some things to go wrong with the brain, but for the life of me, I can't rememeber exactly what it was I read or where. Maybe, one of his teeth is so bad under all that plaque it is sending poison to his brain. I don't know, I'm grasping for straws here. Thanks for your thoughts, prayers and hugs. Please keep them coming!

Deb, don't agonize over things you have little knowledge of and no control over. Just put those "brain" thoughts out of your head. Ralph will be OK, and he'll be seeing the vet the day after tomorrow. The vet will check him out and get to the bottom of it. Yes, from what I understand, the Tramadol is an opiate and therefore Ralph may be "spaced out". (I have no direct knowledge, but I've been reading the comments on this drug in Claudia and Rocket's condo; you might call your vet and ask if Ralph's behavior could be Tramadol influenced. That might at least set your mind at ease until your appointment on Wednesday.)

Sending vines!

Ella & Rusty

Good morning guys ... glad to hear spot was being so lovey this morning .. sometimes they just know when you need that extra bit of kitty love .. I will send prayers and positive thoughts your way for ralph .. I hope the vet can figure out what's going on and get him back to his old self ...

(((Deb))) Sending snowflakes to Ralph. It does sound like there may be a possible visual impairment or maybe he could use a neurological exam. Bear man used to be very restless and wander. I used to think it was a sign of pain (i.e. CP flareup), or also a bit of dementia. I gave him Denosyl, which may help with brain function.

Prayers for you and Ralph. Like Ella stated, he may be spaced out. I remember when my GA Siamese was so sick and on some heavy duty drugs, he did similar things. It's good he be seeing the Vet soon. Hang in there and hugs.

Deb....many healing vines and prayers your way today for Ralphie. Deb, I'm sorry...I don't remember how old Ralphie is but if he is older, I wonder if he could have Sundowner's syndrome? I did not realize this occurred in animals until a friend of mine's dog developed it. It is a form of dementia usually found in the elderly where they get very anxious when it gets dark...pacing, perhaps vocalizing, my friend's dog pants and pants but the overall symptom is anxiety...do you think that is what you might be seeing in Ralph? I just wonder if it's worth asking the vet. My friend say her dog often seems confused as well. They have put him on xanex to help. I could be totally off base but just a thought. (((Deb)))

Deb - many healing vines for Ralph. I wish I could help, but all of this is so out of my experience realm. I am sorry he is having problems. I hope you can get to the bottom of whatever it is soon. You are in our thoughts and prayers, and I really hope that Ralph feels better soon.

Hi Deb, just peeked in real quick from tbp. I'm praying for a miracle for Ralph. I hope he is more like his former self again, soon.

(((Deb)))

The tramadol can cause disorientation, being zonked, as well as agitation. I hope the vet can get this all sorted out quickly.

Thanks for all the well wishes and comforting words. I know that the power of the board is with my little buddy. Mom said he had a pretty good afternoon. He did his now usual pacing and then climbed up on her lap and fell asleep for an hour. She had to get up, so he decided to go lay under the Christmas tree. He got up when I came home, and did some more strolling. He at his dinner and is now taking a rest under the tree again.
Marjorie, Ralphie is 11 years young :)

Now for Spot...doing great. His pmps was a little higher -broke his green streak- but that was my fault. I was cutting up the New Years Ham and putting pieces in baggies. All the kids were hanging around for a taste, which they got.....but oooopppppsss...I had brown sugar on the ham, so up went his bg's. Oh, well, sometimes you just have to cheat and he did pretty good during the holidays ;-) Spot is now hanging out on the arm of my chair, watching me type and waiting for his +4 test and snack.,

Very BIG possibility the tramadol was the reason for him spilling the water dish all over himself and for the fall between the mattress and foot board the other day. Oh, poor poor baby.
