Logan didn't wake me up, but I woke up on my own around 4 and he ate about 5/8 of a can of FF. This morning, he ate about 1/2 can of FF so we didn't give him the full amount at tube feeding. He's been getting 2/3 of a can of a/d three times a day. I think we're going to cut that back to 1/2 can and see if he'll eat more on his own. He was a bit more alert last night and this morning. He was even a little more vocal. Logan is normally a very happy, purry, vocal cat, but he's been very quiet lately. Hopefully, that will change soon!

ETA: Logan's eyes look so much better! They're clear and beautiful again.
 
Well, I guess you are relieved about the way his eyes look again! That is GREAT!
And the fact that he is being a little more vocal and eating a bit more on his own are such
good signs!! Good boy Logan....hope you both have a great day Kelly!

Nice report on Logan today.
Awsome about his eye and eating. Looks like he is turning around the healing corner
and on his way to getting better.
With everything he has gone thorugh, great AMPS as well.
Keep up the good work!
 
It's great to hear that Logan is eating more on his own and that his eyes are clearing. Great WCR. I hope you're beginning to breathe a bit easier.

Down a little from this morning. He ate 3/4 can of FF chunky turkey on his own. I wish he'd something else, but we'll work on that later. I gave him 1/2 can of the a/d through the tube so he got about 160 calories...that should hold him until PMPS. I'm hoping he'll eat well then, too, and we can reduce the night tube feeding amount, as well.

He wouldn't purr for me, but he seemed to perk up a bit when I opened the blinds and the sunlight hit his little spot. He loves to lay on blankets so we have two that we keep folded up and move them around. When it's time for his feeding, we'll put it near him and he knows he's supposed to lay down on it while we feed him. He's such a good boy. He has been through so much, I just can't get over how good he is when it comes to meds/shots/testing/eye drops/feeding, etc. He deserves to be spoiled rotten for the rest of his life!

He knows how much you love him & that you're helping him get well. :mrgreen:

He's such a good boy. He has been through so much, I just can't get over how good he is when it comes to meds/shots/testing/eye drops/feeding, etc.

Ugh, not liking that PMPS. Go back to yellow, Logan! He ate 1/2 can of FF. We'll see how much he eats in a couple of hours - we may be able to skip our last tube feeding! We'll see...we may just give him a little bit to be sure.

Laura, he does like catnip, but he hasn't shown much interest in any of his catnip toys lately.

And, Nancy, I'm ok with him reminding me of my spoiled comment! I'd give anything to have the old Logan back, even morning Logan, who would start waking me at 5:30 by meowing, pulling my hair, screaming in my face!

Im glad you are working to reduce feedings in order to see how logan will eat on his own. Its a delicate balance for sure!!!!

I dont know if I mentioned this, but Logan was nauseated when offered many of the 'old' foods he used to eat. Its very possible there are aversions to those specific foods and he may not eat them again...or at least for a while. I would really try to give variety until you see what he is most interested in. Once you get a handful of varieties/flavors, you can rotate them. When Latte started eating again she REALLY liked the duck and venison (mostly duck), and turkey. These are things I didnt feed much of in the past. Now she prefers a lot of what she used to like...chicken, turkey, and a little salmon.

Kelly, don't get discouraged. He is doing better. Time. He knows how much you care and what good care you are giving him. Come on Logan, feel better and eat for your beans.
 
Logan ate about 5/8 of a can of FF tonight so we cut way back on his tube feeding. We probably could've skipped it all together, but we wanted to mix his meds in the food so we didn't have to attempt to pill him. So, he's nice and stuffed tonight. He's preening now. He's been doing that more regularly now so that's a good sign. Overall, he had a very good day! We will hope for a repeat tomorrow.

We got a ketone test tonight. It was mostly negative - it had just a hint of pink. Yay!

Off to bed...we'll see if he gets me up. If not, I won't worry since he's eaten so much today.

One thing I am a bit concerned about is the fact that he hasn't really put any weight back on. He's consuming a lot of calories so I thought he'd gain some weight. I think I'm going to see if she'll go ahead and give us the B12 injections. I've read that a B12 deficiency can affect their absorption of nutrition. It's worth a shot...no pun intended.

Thanks, Cassandra! She had mentioned possibly giving him B12 injections but decided against it since his level was normal. I'm thinking his level may not be normal anymore. I can feel his backbone and I really think he's eating more than enough to gain some weight. I'll email her this info tomorrow! Thanks, again.
 
Even if the cobalamin level is normal, it can still be very beneficial. Sasha's cobalamin has tested normal and we still use cobalamin therapy to aide in red blood cell production as well as provide an appetite boost and much needed energy.
