well- it was bumpy at first- I was worried staying in the yellows without dips to the greens...I was half expecting the food spikes to go red...

but it seems as if PK agrees with decrease for now...no 90's shooting to 300's w/food spike...now we are seeing 200's to 300's and back it looks like.

With "help" from some FDMB Angels, I am able to test a bit more now, so hopefully that will help sort out what is going on here.

Anyone have any feedback or suggestions? Should I lower again to see if he'll go lower yet or hold and ride this shallow curve for a while?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions! :thumbup

Number nine is responding! (I saw all those looki-loos and no one responded - odd).

Anyway.... Just seeing how long it took him to settle after the last decrease, I think I would hold it for now at 1u. His PS's are very nice, but not the 300s a few hours later. I wonder what the heck that is all about - and I know you do also.

Here's the thing: He takes a long time to settle, but I still wonder if he is needing less insulin because of little glimpses here and there - and, yes, my experience with Beau and their similarities on vetsulin. I can't advise decreasing the dose because I have nothing tangible to point to to really support it. I can advise waiting it out and seeing what happens.

If he were my cat... I would be tempted to cut the dose a la rebound check, test for ketones, and test a LOT in days 4-7 after the decrease to try and prove once and for all that he did/did not need less insulin.

I just feel that when the protocol isn't working the answers have to be somewhere else. In this case his numbers and the protocol are telling you to increase because he isn't getting below 100 at any time in the cycle, but we know that on 1.25u he wasn't much better, he had a beautiful day on 1u on the 21st, and 1.5u is way too much. So where does that leave you?

It's your call, of course, Melissa. I support you which ever way you decide to go.
