Happy Friday everyone!

Looks like after yesterday's excitement, Mally is starting off the morning in the pink numbers. Since she started yesterday much lower than normal, I'm guessing that at some point before her AMPS she might have been in the green numbers. Maybe these latest numbers are her rebounding? I'll do her tests as normal today and see what her body is telling me.

WCR - Mally was a hungry kitty this morning and ate well. On today's menu - fish. Mally was laying down when I prepared breakfast so I walked by her and waved the bowl under her nose, which resulted in a nice meow and got her on her feet quickly. She followed me down the hall to my office, where the cats are fed, and dug in. And after a nice breakfast, she's lounging on the back of the sofa.

Have a great day, everyone!

I'm confused. Why so high tonight after such a low day?

I double checked the two meters again (on myself) after making sure the new one was coded properly and they both gave me the exact same reading. So, I don't think the numbers have anything to do with switching meters.

I'll test once more before we go do bed and then see how Mally is doing in the morning.

If the PMPS was with the OTUM then I can tell you from experience that that meter read the highest of 4 different meters that I have. I went through the same thing a week ago trying to figure out why the meter I had was reading so low and after testing three other meters found that the meter I was using was way off. However, as you get closer to normal BG the meter was more accurate, because when I tested all meters on myself and another non-diabetic kitty in the house the meters were closer to the same number. You will always have some variance so don't fry your brain over it. As I was told stick to one meter, and only use the other as a back up, and remember that the meter read higher or lower so you know how to interpret your results.

After testing the 4 meters I have (CVS TrueResults; Relion Micro; One Touch Ultra Mini; and Relion Ultima) along with a the vet equipment I found that the Relion Micro was the closest to the vet's readings. Still different than what the vet showed but the closest of the other 3. This along with the fact the the Micro requires such a small blood sample is why I stuck with that meter over the other 3. The CVSTrueResults meter read the lowest, as much as 200 points lower than the other 3. Like I said all meters were accurate in the normal range, but those high numbers just throw things off.

Hope that helps to ease your mind a bit.

I like the ReliOn Micro too, but Walmart has not been good about keeping the strips in stock. Considering they have other meters on the shelf that require the Micro strips, one would think they would keep the strips in stock. But then again, this is Walmart we're dealing with.

As I mentioned, last night I tested myself on the ReliOn Micro and the OneTouch Ultra. (I hate pokes in the finger!) I got enough blood so that I could test both meters with the same blood sample. I got the same exact number on both meters.

I'm guessing Mally's numbers today have more to do with her going so low yesterday than with the new meter. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Re: 1/22 Mally AMPS 338, +2 275, +5 262

Wow! Mally's quite playful today. That's something I haven't seen in a while. She found one of the cat toys and was batting it around in the living room and having a grand time. It's nice to see her play again.

The ear drops that you're using contain a steroid. You may be getting a bump up in numbers during the PM cycle since that's when you are administering the drops. At least that's one possible explanation for the rise in numbers at night.

the high numbers just look like a bounce off the blue (these bounces can last up to 72 hours). Sienne is probably right too that the ear drops could be causing a bump at night, or just elevating the numbers overall. How much longer will Mally be on those drops?
