Ok, so today is a better day, not numbers-wise but attitude-wise. Thanks for the replies to last night's condo.

Cassandra, I will increase to 1.75u on the morning of 1/21. I am home a lot (currently unemployed) so I can monitor and watch Buzz closely. I don't mind being a little more aggressive with the dosing/increases, but I also don't want to go too crazy and overshoot. This weekend I will be out of town for my grandfather's memorial service, and DHW will be at home alone with the kitties. I am leaving Friday early afternoon so I will be at home for 1.5 days of the dosecrease, which makes me feel better. We will hold that for 3 days and see where we are (rather than doing 2 days). That is assuming that nothing happens today with the 1.25, of course.

In regards to someone (I'm sorry, my short term memory is horrible and I have already forgotten who! ) asking how Buzz is doing rather than the numbers, you are totally right. Before we started her back on insulin, her coat was dandruffy, and now it's not. That's the only sign so far, but she is not one for physical signs of stuff. The first time she hypo'd (BG of 38) she showed absolutely no signs of it, none whatsoever. Had it not been for hometesting, well, it wouldn't have been pretty. But thank you for reminding me of the "whole cat" philosophy. Of course I know that's what is important, but it's easy to let the number stress get in the way of that sometimes.

I am still keeping my fingers crossed for some yellows today (would love blues but I don't want to get too crazy with the wishing). :) I'll let you know what happens.

((((Sarah))))

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

We love to see a WCR (Whole Cat Report) daily in condos, because really our kitties are much more than the numbers that the meter shows. And if you forget, you better believe Ronnie will be in here reminding you. Every day. :-D

Most of the time when we see low numbers here it is just that - low numbers. Lantus and Lev are kind of known for their lack of symptoms when low numbers hit, outside of hunger. Quite a few kitties here that have hit LO before without a symptom (I would freak...the lowest Sasha has been was 22 and that was plenty low enough for me!). Because the doses are worked up to systematically, there is less chance of the dose you give being very far off of what the true working dose should be. It's kind of nice.

Have you started fluids yet? If so, is that going okay for you?

although this is a good thing.... be careful what you wish for timing wise. Cats are notorious for reading the posts and messing up your plans. So here's my wish... i hope she is yellow and/or bloo but not too crazy so you don't worry while you are away. And as such, I'm sorry about your grandfather. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

I'm sorry about your grandfather.

I'll second Helene's motion for some yellow and blue, but not tooooo low so you won't have to worry while you're out.

My condolences for your grandfather.

My job to nag today. (Where's Ronnie?). Please remember to link your condo from the previous day in your first post of the day. And could you update Buzz's SS when you have a chance?

I didn't know about linking but I will do that from now on. I haven't updated Buzz's SS because our Internet has been down for almost 2 days and I am doing everything through my phone, and I haven't attempted SS on there. I will update it when I get to a wifi spot, hopefully today.
