So there is actually a possible explanation...my pen has had a big bubble of air in it. I changed pens this morning and he went blue. Could be coincidence, don't know...
 
That's the trouble with pens! I never had this issue when I was using a vial, but those air bubbles like hanging around near the tip where the needle goes in! I've spent time drawing air out of the pen by inserting the needle and sucking out the air by drawing back on the needle plunger until the black stopper goes down and the air is completely sucked out. The vacuum inside should allow you to draw out the air and not waste the insulin.
