What size needle did you get?

i was advised here and other places the 20 gauge.. you Mention too i think?? A medium between comfort and flow..

Not too much as long as his heart is good. There are different opinions among vets on this. Some say that you should never exceed 100 mL. Some will go with the 10 mL per Lb. I have to admit that, some of my cats who were big have done great on 120 mL (that is all I was willing to give) but other cats whom I was told to give 120-150 mL to got pleural effusion (BUT nobody told me she had developed dilated cardiomyopathy.

oh good.. woof. and oh no!! nobody says nothing sometimes…… sorry to hear that.. and everyone got a different opinion..

I usually keep 19 and 20 gauge Terumo IV needles on hand. With really impatient cats, I will frequently ise the 19 gauge. With my more patient cats I use 20 gauge.

cool! that's good to know too.. i hear the terumos just go in better.. which we could certainly use.

Yes. They do, but you kind of have to get the feel for how much force you need to use to get it through the cat’s skin. Some of my cats seem to have tougher skin than others. And remember to kind of raise that skin around the shoulder blades and insert the needle kind of parallel to his body.

and aww ok maybe im smashing it in idk.. but slowrr is worse no? idk the whole thing is just.. yeah.. medical stiff just hurts sometimes.. .. i hope i just get better at it. also ive been a fool and done it w him having no distractions at all.. im gonna treat him up next time..

(also.. bebe is trending up.. how to go back up properly or is it ok to do it kinda slowly somehow?.. cuz settling the new things.. but think very soon? im not sure .. some options forward? i got him on 1/2 rn..)

Yeah. Some of my cats like to eat a favorite food while getting fluids. Problem is that sometimes it’s some low carb kibble like Dr. Elsey’s. And for Pudge you may not want that. Got any favorite low carb teats he loves that you can just add the aluminum hydroxide binder to? Something he could munch on while getting fluids?

yeah! i make smaller size treats frm freeze dried turkey.. he likes those
