This boy is going to drive me to distraction.

He ate all his food last night, but this morning when I set out the first dish he wouldn't touch it at all (even with a little crushed-up kibble!) until I added some freeze-dried tuna. He gets his second dish topped with a bit of freeze-dried rabbit and a little more crushed-up kibble ... he certainly ate enthusiastically when I set it out, but I'm not sure how much of the actual food he ate beneath the topper.

(Potentially of note: the food last night had the full 1/8th tsp of powdered psyllium husk. This morning's first dish only had ~1/16th tsp. That said, I'm going to have the sitter switch back to Miralax when I'm away, just in case the psyllium is making him less enthusiastic about eating as @Wendy&Neko suggested.)

He's bouncing hiiiigh, so that's currently less of a worry, but I do need him to eat! I'm not leaving until quite late in the afternoon, and I'm off from work, so I should be able to keep an eye on him (though I do need to run some errands too).

Oh, and I have to replace his Libre today. And set up the new cameras.

I hope everyone has a delightful Friday, and safe surfing to all your kitties!

Hi Alli, good luck with the Libre installation today.
I hope Gen eats well so you don’t have to stress about leaving.
I think it’s a good idea to keep him on the fiber that you know he won’t have any adverse reaction to eating while you are away. You can certainly go back to the psyllium husk when you return.
Have a great day and a safe surf! 🏄‍♂️ 🌊💕😻

Phew, I feel like I've run a marathon today already. I had to run out to pick up the prescriptions I couldn't get last night. Gen's eating more normally today (in spite of his initial weirdness at feeding time) and his BG continues to be sky-high (as expected).

The Libre process was really rough, possibly because I started on the side with the old sensor - not just to remove it, but to check over the abraded area of skin and apply the antibiotic ointment my vet prescribed. To my surprise, I found the area now covered in a raised layer of mostly un-stickied surgical glue that must have absorbed coconut oil until it was easy to just peel off. Much more of it than I had anticipated. The skin under didn't look so red, either. So that was good!

But by the time I was done removing the sensor and cleaning up the area, Gen had had it. I managed to do the installation on his other side, but oh, there was whining, growling, hissing, and a little bit of peeing. I guess I have to put down a pee pad next time to be safe - I'm soaking the bit of couch that got it with Nature's Miracle in hopes it will do the trick.

Gen already seems to have forgiven me for the "assault" and is calmly washing himself next to me on the bed. I need to go shower and get ready to go. Oof.

I'll miss him, though.

I don't expect that I'll be posting here while I'm away, so have a wonderful weekend, all of you! ❤️
