Re: 1/15 Mikey AMPS 205 +2 104 +3 95
I need some input re: prefilling syringes. I know it's not recommended, and I wouldn't do it for any period of time. However, I have a major media event coming up, complete with wacky hours (and no paycheck since it's for a site I co-own. Grrrrr). My roommate can do PS BG's and give his injections, but with his TINY dose and tendency to hypo at anything over that, she's understandably nervous about drawing his dose. I'll be home every night not too long after his injections, except of one night but won't be home in the AM to test. Anyway, is it ok to draw the injections a few hours ahead of time (less than 12 hours, usually more like 4-5, maybe up to 10) if they're refrigerated? I wouldn't draw more than one at a time-AM injection about 6-7 hours early and PM maybe 10 hours early? I read the link in the stick, but it didn't mention hours, only longer than a day. Has anyone predrawn by a few hours and kept it in the fridge? I'd feel a lot safer drawing them myself whenever possible, given Mikey's history. Is it dangerous if the insulin degrades slightly, or simply slightly less effective? I'd rather have slightly higher numbers than a hypo with nobody home. I just got new needles and find the .1 tricky to draw, though I have it down now.
What do you think? Yay or nay?
