Gosh,

I can't get Atlas to come in for breakfast and it is time for the tide to turn! Maybe if I warm up the duck he'll get a wiff of it and come investigate.

Attie actually let me sleep all the way through last night. No frantic midnight snack demand!

I have to go off to TBP today and won't be home to monitor him today.

Duck is in the freezer now to be left out when I leave. If we're in normal numbers and the diabetic munchies are finally being alleviated, it should have a chance to defrost by this afternoon.

Great AMPS...I hope Atlas will eat for you....does he eat on his own when you are gone?

Re: 09/21 Atlas, AMps 160, + 2 146

I put the frozen duck out. It is a whole can...

Last night he dropped 30 points at onset and then more or less held...

That would give him this morning around 100ish...

Of course I'm being a worry wort here and wondering if putting down a 1/4 of Evo kibble might be wise. Or putting down some non-frozen duck now, would be good?

I've got 15 minutes to decide... and then I won't be home the rest of the day.

He did when we were on N. But then he got in the habit of gobbling everything in one sitting.

He ate his usual breffis so his appetite perked up.

Ahh...he's up now trying to eat the duck popsicles.

Unfortunately Pat,

I am off TBP in minutes...

I put out more immediate edibles just now and split the kibble into three servings.

I won't know who ate what, of course tonights BG might be telling, but food is available.

Paws crossed we're OK today. nailbite_smile

Well, this morning I left fresh FF, frozen duck and split a 1/4 cup kibble into 3's. I have three cats including Attie.

Upon arrival home, Kibble is left on two of the three plates...and ....none of the duck is eaten...until I stuck my finger in it!

So the minuscule amount of EVO kibble eaten from a quarter cup is all that was gone. Don't know by who... Attie was working on the FF when I left?

Tonight I have a bounce :YMSIGH:, but not a dead cat :!:

So I have no idea how low, was low enough to trigger my bounce this evening or how long he has been rising.

I guess I have to hold the tickie tonight and hope his bounce clears nicely...

I wouldn't use kibble. I'd put out either MC food or top the duck with gravy.

I like this idea, but it came a bit late.

What kind of gravy do you use?

Can I use sodium free consomme and make my own?

Re: gravy, we typically use that in the can of HC. Hold the meat with a fork and squeeze... a little sauce goes a long way. Kibbles... well, I think i've mentioned before that they will only give you grey hair....

I was terrified of coming home to a dead cat too. Didn't help that I was kinda going against the advise of my vet and I didn't want to show up with an hypo cat in hand at her clinic either.... BUT I was told a few things which I hammered into my head and it helped alleviate my fear. Here is it...
- You monitor frequently when you are home, so you have 'some' clue of how your cat reacts to insulin.
- Because you carefully go up the dosing scale, not only Atlas's body has time to adjust to the dose, but the dose can only be off my 0.25U , which isn't a huge overdose. I'm not saying to take insulin lightly, don't get me wrong.
- Atlas has a liver.... see those bounces (on kibbles free days only), that's the liver working. Consider this a safety feature as well.
- If you have to leave and you worry, you can add a little HC to the regular food or cushion the drop a little with food before you leave. Jackie/Punk is the out-the-door-touch-of-gravy expert... visit her condo if you'd like.

I hope you find this information useful.... I know that it helped me.
