I miss reading and keeping up with the condos, but I haven’t had much time these last few days.
Mami’s numbers have been quite flat and stable, staying mostly between 100 and 150 since September 9, especially. The early-morning rise is better, though, with no more of those high peaks we were seeing before. Things really have become flatter. There is also no longer that drop down to 53 or 60 like before. Her morning drop now slows down around the 80s or 90s and stays there only briefly. So, the curve has changed, but now I know why.
All of this happened right after her antibiotic treatment ended. Inflammation really does affect her BG. So here it is why: her anemia has become more severe again, and it is probably related to the Mycoplasma that parasitizes her red blood cells. She is quiet, weak, and much less active. We changed her antibiotic.
I started the new one yesterday. I was pretty tense yesterday and had a heavier day, but today I feel better. I’ll face it and do whatever needs to be done for her, and then see what to do about the probiotics too. All the details were once more discussed at length with the vet, yesterday.
She will receive a few doses of EPO since her anemia is non-regenerative at the moment, as well as the antibiotic that seems to be better suited for this Mycoplasma species. Today, she seems slightly better, but she is still low on energy.
As for the iron panel, we evaluated the results and it seems that she does not have an iron deficiency.
The issue really seems to be systemic inflammation. This Mycoplasma affects several of her body’s functions, but we have already silenced one of them, and this one will be silenced too - that's what I believe, by faith.
Health is a blessing. May we take very good care of ours... This thought has been on my mind lately.
For now, I’m focusing on taking good care of her, so I’ve been around here a little less.
I wish everyone a peaceful weekend, with plenty of lightness and good moments with your kitties
