Details, details, details... which matter so much.

I've been learning subtle things about the Libre 1 that make all the difference. I had to buy my last sensor at a pharmacy with slow turnover because it was out of stock everywhere else. When the sensor sits on the shelf too long, the battery or internal components degrade, and it usually fails within a few days. Sure enough, bingo!, that's exactly what happened. Moving forward, I need to stick to stores with high turnover where fresh stock arrives constantly.

Long story short, new Libre 1 on Mami yesterday... they are back in stock.

Yesterday, NS in the morning. New Libre 1 in the evening plus new lab work for comparison. I hope her visits to the vet clinic get more and more reduced after August... so she can feel less stressed or anxious. 🙏 🤍 In this way her numbers get better too.

I am still giving her the LC can from the different lot in the morning. I'm changing only one variable at a time: one supplement will now be in the afternoon.

Her LC food from the regular lots written "new formula" = she eats them for the rest of the day, as always.

Her drop in the morning is much less intense since September 2. Different AMPS curve. Smoother. Higher numbers in the evening too. I am still trying to find a more exact reason - or maybe her pancreas/liver are just more balanced now? No more big dives at +1 and +2 as before (this makes me more relaxed, to be honest). It all looks a bit similar to July, when I stopped with the drop... 🤷🏻‍♀️ I can only be sure of that when I go back to her regular LC can at AMPS too.

I will wait for her iron panel plus some other vitamins (lab work) to be ready. And I will continue with the drop and see what happens. Another curious fact: last night, no big rise around +8 or +9. Yesterday she had 1 drop only at PMPS, but not in the morning.

New month and many different things!

Let's see what September brings. 🍃🍃🍃

🤍 safe surfs to all!!

Hi Clarice, I’m so happy Mami Cat is doing well I hope the consistent food lot helps.

For the Libre, how far out was the expiration date? Just curious.
Abbott should replace it for you if you contact them with the serial number stored in the phone or on the package (don’t say it’s for a cat).
I always try to have several extras on hand. I’ve learned the hard way they fail at the worst times. Sometimes 2 in a day 🤦‍♀️

I’m glad you’ve found more at a better pharmacy with longer expiration dates. That should help.
I’ve also found that one. Ivy lingers in low numbers for several hours, that can shut down the Libre and stop it from working. I think it’s a safety feature of the Libre and the device thinks the User is hypoglycemic.

I hope you both have a relaxing day and have excellent lab results 🥰🙏💞🐈

Thank you so much, Staci! It's a lot of lab work, but I am very interested in this one that is coming.
I'll see how her curve turns out in September - something has really changed, for now.

Staci, actually, I guess the expiration date doesn't change much in this case. They are almost all similar, expiring around mid-2027. What changes is the manufacturing date, or maybe the lot(?). If the product is older and has been sitting around longer, it tends to last less. The expiration date has less of an impact, from what I've noticed.

Thank you 🙏
I've already tried contacting them via the Brazilian website and form, but the process here proves to be much slower and more complex. Almost no replies. Maybe I'll try again, but I ended up choosing to give up and organize myself in another way. Indeed: if we say it's for a cat, it causes problems. Thanks a lot 🙏

2 Libres in a day... 😯 I can really imagine how stressful that is. I notice that the Libre 1 shows fewer intense and abrupt drops than the (Brazilian) version with Bluetooth, but that might just be the case for Mami Cat.

Regarding the situation when the number gets too low or drops again multiple times after a rise, it's true. If I don't stabilize the numbers a bit (usually with food and a bit of oral glucose), that is more likely to happen. It can stop working, indeed, and the safety message explaining why pops up, at the same time.

Thank you for everything!
I hope Ivy is doing well with the B12 support 🥰!!

I hope you get answers and get nunbets are improving to help her feel much better.
You’re such an amazing advocate for your girl. She’s so lucky to have you 🥰

Interesting about the manufacturing date on the Libre. I will have to look at that with mine that failed. It’s always so frustrating and I hate to put Ivy through the process sooner than expected 🤦‍♀️

Even trying my best, sometimes I think I make mistakes, Staci... and I guess I do. But I try with all my heart to find the best solutions for her 💓

Indeed, it is frustrating... I really get it. 🙏🏼I'm so glad you have the chance to put a new one right away, though!

And yes, please take a look at the manufacturing date in case the Libre starts to pause too much - and then stop functioning way before the estimated date. Maybe we found one more thing in common 😉

(I try to buy the ones from the pharmacies with brand-new stock.)

You do a wonderful job. Don’t doubt yourself 💞
We all do the very best we can!
