The flooding from the rain and rising waters in the bayous and rivers have receded. The two reservoirs that were built to prevent flooding in Houston proper are still full (over full) and they continue to release water from them at a slow rate so the houses behind the earthen dams are being flooded as well as those just on the other side of the flood gates. These reservoirs were built and designed to do exactly what they are doing (in the 1940's and 50's) and the housing developments came much, much later and are considered in 500 year flood zones - and are now flooding. Is the flooding going down in Houston?
Got a text from my SIL yesterday - she lives in Portland OR - she is surrounded by wildfires with a level 1 evacuation notification in place. They just got done remodeling their house and she was almost in tears. I am waiting to hear from her this morning. Meanwhile, my brother (her husband) is fishing in AlaskaThese weather events are very frightening.

Doesn't look promising. I sure wish I could figure out what is going on with him.I hope Gizmo gets some low blues today.

Here is a really cool website - www.windy.com Along the bottom is a time-line that you can move forward hour-by-hour or day-by-day and see the movement. It looks like the path has moved a little father to the east and may make land fall along South Carolina.

Yes.
My normal shot time is 4:30 - the cat cares not if I have vacation.
