Marvin's Mom - Nat

Member Since 2017
Had a frustrating day. Think that the pharmacy messed up Marvin's carbogoline. Picked it up Monday, they used to give it to me in pre-filled syringes, but last time they asked if ok to give in bottle. I said yes. Well the bottle is dark sort of see throw brown, syringe is same color. So I didn't think anything about it, give Marvin his shot Monday and Tuesday, couldn't really tell if anything in syringe figured it was cause of the color. Any ways this morning I decided to shake the bottle for some reason, and felt nothing. I opened it and it was empty:banghead: . I didn't spill it, doesn't look like it leaked. So either it was empty when I got it or it vanished

Call Pharmcy, lab said not alot in bottle that I probably gave the whole thing to him...hmmm.... said need to be at first line of syringe. I said no its at the .1ml, mark that I had checked the pre-filled knowing that I was getting bottle, and used to measuring. If I had given the whole bottle in 2 days, Marvin probably would be dead.... she then I guess looked at the syringe and confirmed it was line 10 (0.1ml). Said they could make another for Monday :arghh:. Asked for tomorrow, said maybe. Spoke with someone and doesn't look like they made it the same, as less pills, very confusing...... The pharmacist I worked with is on vacation, so lab isn't being flexible.

Ok just got a call, explaination for the difference in pills apparently is that compounding is normally only good for a month, and my perscription amount would have been for 2 month supply, so that is why they used less in the compounding..... I will have to figure out what I am being charged for when Pharmacist is back.... I am confused.... they did confirm they will have it for me tomorrow.

So... looks like Marvin probably got nothing since monday.......

Uggh, that is really frustrating. Especially since Chris recommends weaning kitties off slowly on cabergoline to prevent a dopamine effect that some humans experienced with a quick stop of the drug.

I had to beg, I told them it's what keeping him alive... didn't realize I said that till it was out of my mouth.

Ugh! What a day indeed. Neko's bupe came in those dark bottles and they tried to give me the dark syringes too. After that I always asked for the clear ones so I could see probably. You can't even see bubbles in the dark ones. Hope you get the meds ASAP.

I wish I had noticed on first dose, think it would have been easier dealing with pharmacy if I had. The lab was convinced I gave all of it to Marvin, that I didn't know how to measure the dose in a syringe....hmmm.....:banghead:

I just looked up what dopamine effect signs not sure I found the right thing. Marvin so far seems good, sleepy as normal, 4Ps, he's never been much of a play cat.

I can't even imagine! How horrible that they are so blasé about making what seems like a huge mistake! We aren't the experts, they are, they should know what they are doing and explain clearly if they supply something differently than what you received previously. I'm so glad Marvin is still doing well, no thanks to them

I am so sorry and angry along with you at the incompetent pharmacy. We have to be on top of everything. Trust but verify. Or don't trust at all. I hope Marvin continues to show no harm done.

Wow, that's ridiculous. They should've taken the time to go through dosing it since it was provided in a different form this time. I hope you're able to get a refund on the fill, or a discount on the refill.
