Your kitty and mine seem to be bouncing all over the place. I swear that they have rubber paws, I tell you. LOL I, too, am having the same issues, and am wondering if perhaps I should be switching her food to something else, like Special Kitty, or something, to see if that'll make a difference in her #'s. *shrug*

I'm wishing for Tray to have good #'s today for you. :)

if you can figure out a way to stop these bounces, LET US IN ON IT! :lol: That's probably the number one asked question here .. well, I know I asked it a hundred times already .... Hopefully tray doesn't stay in RBC to long and he comes down for you nice and easy!!

When Kasha was bouncing a lot, it just seemed like patience was the answer. It's my pendulum analogy - they go low in the middle and then high on the ends (bounces) and eventually even out a bit as their livers get used to being lower. I think you can feed to prevent a fast or low drop if you see it coming, but I'm not sure what else you can do to prevent the bouncing.

What time do you feed him at night? I looked at Raja's numbers back when she was on her first OTJ trial...and I noticed that +4 after eating was giving me the lowest BGs. Some people say 3 hours before PS is enough but with my two, I try to keep a good 4 hours in between. (not that it matters with Shadow at all!) ECID!

The Liver has been so active for so long and it does take a lot of doing to get it to relax. The hormones just keep being produced when they go to lower numbers. Some kitties bounce after going to yellow...know what I mean? so Tray had a nice green last night and we don't know if he went even a bit lower than that...that green is enough to signal to his liver that it is time to panic.
They will keep bouncing..until...well, until they don't bounce anymore! :lol:
You can try switching the timing of the food, but in the end, he might just bounce anyway.....as everyone said, it is just the way it is. And I won't talk about patience cause Krys already said that word... :lol:

when I go to bed I set the automat to feed a small snack at +6 and +8
Don't say the P word, I hate it!!!! :lol:

I agree bouncing is so frustrating Do Lou will do it just with low blues I have tried the food timing thing and still have not figured it out I think my cat anyway is just going to hopefully have his liver one day get used to lower numbers and hoping Tray does the same for you so we can stop these bouncing cats

Well, it's not like I like the "P" word - it's just unfortunately how things are. You can look back at my dozens and dozens of frustrated and unpleasant emails to see how well I dealt with it!!! :lol:

In addition to the snacks at +6 and +8, how are you feeding the main meal(s). Is Tray getting a big meal at PS or do you spread the main meal out?

Doodle has been bouncing for almost 3 years - despite food manipulation and irregardless of what insulin he's on.
He's a bouncer - it's just what he does. :roll: And he likes to get up really high and freefall really low (I suspect he has thrill issues) ;-)
Some kitties are just like that.
I'm not saying Tray is never gonna stop bouncing... and I'm not saying you shouldn't bother trying to smooth it out...but I am saying that whether you have patience or not... doesn't really factor in, know what I mean?
I'm hoping this is actually happy news since you don't like that word -- see how I took it's power away? That was just for you. :lol:

I'm with Devon, if you ever figure out how to stop Tray from bouncing, let us in on it too! Tinkles likes to bounce too, but he doesn't bounce nearly as high on Lantus as he did on ProZinc!

If it's any help to you, I feed at PS, +1,+2 & +3, then either +6 and +9 or I leave frozen cubes and fresh food down if I won't be home. I started feeding small amounts over the first 3 hours because others here seemed to be doing it, and it is supposed to be better for the pancreas. It might also cushion the drop...sometimes I think the bounce is caused not by how low they drop, but how steep the drop is....so if you can slow it down, it *might* prevent a bounce.
 
My head is swimming with all this stuff. Even if one figures out how and exactly when, to feed, how do you make the cat eat if it isn't hungry. Checks can't be the only cat that isn't food motivated.
I hope Tray comes down to nice blue numbers.
 
Hi Iorwen, I do the MMM (many mini meals) thing too, and sometimes it works, sometimes not. Now it isn't really working because Stu has so much going on. I use the PS +1 +2 +3 +6 +9 schedule for the daytime. In the evening I feed a somewhat larger meal at PMPS, give a bedtime meal somewhat smaller than PMPS, and put a snack (about the size of the bedtime meal) in the automat to open at +9. Sometimes Stu eats all of the +9 snack, sometimes just some of it. I really need to sleep through the night, so I don't set my alarm to do tests at night. I could have done that when I was younger, but no more!!
Hope Tray sees some blue tonight!
